Two meetings to look at on Friday, with my attention being at Mildura and Albion Park. The best bets for the respective programs are down below.

Mildura

Best bet: Race 6 Number 5 Vanity Bay
I’m pretty confident that this six-year-old can get the job done. He was one of the more impressive winners at this track during Cup Week. He then went to Globe Derby where he looked a good thing on paper but things didn’t fall into place and he tired, dropping out. He’s better than that, so give him another chance.

Next-best: Race 1 Number 1 Whereyagoinbabe
Looks a lovely race for this mare, who is having her first run for the Hargreaves camp after formerly being in NSW. She did her racing in the Hunter, mainly at Newcastle, which is solid enough form for this kind of race at Mildura. She has gate speed and she’ll take beating.

Value: Race 7 Number 1 Coco Beach
This mare can run a cheeky race at a price. Just did too much work on speed last time out here and rightfully dropped out, but she was far from disgraced. Drawn the pole, Wayne Hill has plenty of options, but ideally keeps the lead, opts for cover from Mondooley Mach and then get the box seat run.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 6 Number 7 Lady Avana
The draw is horrible, but she just has too much class. The quality filly makes her Australian debut for Grant Dixon after formerly racing in NZ, where the form around her does read so well. The trial was very good to the eye. Even luck and she’ll prove too good.

Next-best: Race 7 Number 4 The Raconteur
The Morris team have this three-year-old and second up in Queensland, I’m confident he gets the job done. First up run came last week when parked outside the speed. Despite that, he loomed to win. Condition just gave out and felt the pinch late. He should find the front this time and take a stack of beating.

Value: Race 1 Number 8 Key Largo
He’s in with a shout at a big price should he be able to land the spot behind the leader. That will depend on what Brooklyn’s Best does at the start, but on her NSW form, she leads and hopefully Key Largo sits behind. Forget he went around fresh, he just did far too much work. Knockout chance.
