Two meetings to look at on Friday, with Mildura and Tabcorp Park Melton getting my attention. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.
Best bet: Race Six Number 5 Lennox Bromac
The stable is having a fab run with former Kiwis, especially when racing at Mildura, and I am confident that will continue here.
His Australian debut came here last Friday, albeit in a race weaker than this, but gee, he was dominant and impressive. Provided he handles the rise in depth and class, he’ll win again.
Next-best: Race One Number 1 Beau Steele
Market will be fascinating here but I’ll bank on this guy producing his best. I’m going to be forgiving of his run on Wednesday night at Shepparton.
Admittedly, to the eye, he had every chance in front, but he did get quite keen in the run and that may have told late. Prior form suggested a win was near, and overall, this is a massive drop in depth.
Value: Race Seven Number 1 Without Hesitation
This mare hasn’t had much luck with barriers in recent runs but that all changes here with a pole draw, so will be interesting to see where she lands in the run.
Recent efforts have been more than sound so if she can hold a forward spot and get luck at the right stages, she’ll take beating at odds.
Best bet: Race Four Number 1 Our Little Jet
Short but sweet it should be. Just forget she went around last time at Stawell.
Did far too much work outside the speed and was a tired horse, finishing a plain third, but with excuses. Should lead comfortably from the pole with Chris Alford to steer and is the one to beat.
Next-best: Race Six Number 1 Our Classie Reactor
Confident he can bounce back into the winners list.
The former Kiwi that has had three runs in Australia, winning the first two in good style. Short odds when racing here last time out but was forced to sit parked and that hard run just told at the end. Should hold the lead and prove hard to run down.
Value: Race Seven Number 11 Namoscar
If this girl gets the right drag into the race, gee she’ll be dangerous at odds. Manners weren’t 100 per cent when she raced here last Friday night so want to be forgiving of the run.
Potentially gets the back of the hot pot favourite so if that goes three wide at the bell and this guy follows up, he has the change up speed to win.
