Two meetings to look at on Saturday night, with Albion Park and Tabcorp Park Menangle getting my focus. Down below is best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park
Best Bet: Race 4, Number 8, General Montana:

He is a very smart three year old and despite a second row draw, he’s clearly the one to beat. Big win from him here on Friday after getting into a tricky spot. He managed to slice his way into clear air, charge late and get up near the peg. Depth here nowhere near as strong and barring bad luck, he should win.

Next Best: Race 5, Number 1, Fairiesdelight:

Been a little while since she has greeted the judge first, but gee she gets a great chance to get back into the winners list. Hasn’t really had a barrier in recent times that allows her to show gate speed and lead. That changes here given she has drawn the pole and should have little trouble holding the front. If that eventuates, I’m confident she’ll look the winner for a long way.

Value: Race 6, Number 8, Glitter Strip:

He hasn’t set the world on fire in two runs back from a break, but has a soft gate to do no work and something small on at a big price I can entertain as a bet. He’s been beaten comfortably in both runs this time in, but should get a cheap run here, likely three back the fence, and could pinch a place at big odds provided there are eight starters.

Tabcorp Park Menangle
Best Bet: Race 3, Number 7, Im Rockin It:

Pretty confident he can make a winning debut if he runs up to his recent trial, where he was a real eye catcher from off the speed and made up a stack of ground in a strong piece of work. Tricky draw to overcome at start one, but I think he’s above average and is hard to beat.

Next Best: Race 2, Number 7, Aldebaran Ursula:

This girl is hit and miss, but if she brings her best manners, she has a fair bit on them. If it was a mobile start, I’d happily have her as a multi anchor. But the fact it’s a stand, and her manners can be scratchy, should ensure, I hope, that she gets towards $2+. Resumed at Group l level at Kilmore when leading and just failing to finish it off. If she gets away clean, she wins.

Value: Race 7, Number 2, Big Black Diamond:

I highly doubt he wins, but I can entertain him as a place bet. His last run came on July 17 when drawing gate ten and failing to come on. Draws much better this time around, likely lands three or back on the pegs, does no work and could pinch a place at a big price.
