Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with Yarra Valley and Redcliffe getting my focus. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.

Yarra Valley

Best bet: Race 4, Number 1, Sonnys Amazing
He’s found winning form and I’m confident he can go on with it. Impressive effort at Warragul last start. Copped pressure in front and was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure, fended them off and was too good. Should lead these up and take a power of beating.

Next-best: Race 3, Number 5, Potro
He looks a pretty smart juvenile and confident he can make it two from two to start his career. Debut came at Warragul where he did a bit of work early but eventually found the front and from there, he just kept running and smashed the clock in a sharp performance. Should find the front once again and prove hard to get past.

Value: Race 6, Number 1, Lopez
Going to have a throw at the stumps via this filly. Chris Alford takes the steer and I think she’s in with a shout at odds. Too bad to be true last time out at Kilmore so want to be forgiving of that outing. Drawn the pole, so if she can hold a forward spot, she can take this out at good odds.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race 2, Number 3, Misty Creek
Takes on the older horses, but he is a quality juvenile who should take a power of beating. Latest run came on July 31 at Albion Park where he came a close up fourth in a very strong two-year-old race. Has a good record at Redcliffe, class factor, drawn well… he should be winning, barring bad luck.

Next-best: Race 1, Number 1, Dancing With My Ex
Looks very well placed to break the maiden status. Four career outings to date, all of which have come at Albion Park in far stronger races than this, and last start ran a game second. Drawn the pole, I think he has enough early speed to hold the front and from there, can dominate proceedings.

Value: Race 3, Number 1, Weasel
Getting on in years, but I think he’s in with a shout at a price from the pole. Hasn’t had a great deal of luck in recent runs, but does have the pole draw to use. Has gate speed so can hold the lead, but I dare say opts for cover and at a big price, I can speck him each way.
