There are two meetings to look at on Tuesday, with my attention at Melton and Menangle. Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Melton

Best bet: Race 2, Number 9, Revelstoke
The Redwood is shaping up to be a brilliant edition this year and this girl can stamp herself as a leading contender with a win here. Her manners are not 100 per cent so it will be heart in your mouth stuff at stages, but if she does everything right, she’ll be too good. This horse had a dominant win at Kilmore, has got a good trailing draw here, and she’ll take a power of beating.

Next best: Race 8, Number 3, The Longest Day
There is enough evidence to suggest she doesn’t measure up in Sydney, so she returns back home to Victoria and finds such a thin race. Her runs in Sydney have been quite good without winning, and she does have sharp change-up speed. If she runs up to anywhere near her best, she wins.

Value: Race 6, Number 8, Fling It Rainbow
This is a bit similar to Revelstoke. This horse has talent, but manners are questionable. The last couple of times he has raced under mobile conditions, he has broke, so that’s a query here, especially drawn inside the second row. But if he puts it together, he potentially can land leaders back and from there, this horse can be quite dangerous at odds.

Best bet: Race 3, Number 4, Chezmac
She’s a hard horse to follow and trust with confidence, but she is a mare who does love to control things in front and she gets a perfect scenario to showcase that. Forgive the run last time out here. This horse was forced to sit parked and stuck on okay. This horse should find the front and from there, will take a power of beating.

Next best: Race 2, Number 1, Watts Up Majestic
This horse is a three-year-old taking on the older horses so that is something I’m always on guard with, but he looks to have a fair bit more progression than this lot. He did contest stakes races last time in and while he didn’t win, he was solid. This horse’s trials have been good, he has gate speed, and he should lead and prove hard to beat.

Value: Race 5, Number 1, Lady Delight
This is more of a 1×3 speck in a race where there are deep odds on pop. This horse led at Penrith first up and gave cheek, but couldn’t quite finish it off when second. This horse has gate speed, so can hold a forward spot, likely three pegs, and from there, she’s a good chance to run top three and fill a place.
