Two meetings to look at on Monday, with Cobram and Goulburn getting my focus. Down below is best bets for the respective programs.

Cobram
Best Bet: Race 5, Number 1, La Captain

I am hoping the market is with him. Talented three year old that resumes for Jess Tubbs with Greg Sugars to steer. He has some strong form around him from last prep, certainly good enough to take this out. His trials leading in have been strong, he has gate speed, think he leads and will prove hard to get past.

Next Best: Race 2, Number 1, Jarrad Said
I think this first starter has talent. Well Said gelding on debut off the back of some tidy trial efforts, the latest being a closing second at Shepparton where he clocked good late splits. If he can hold a forward spot from the pole, he’ll take beating here against this lot I’d suggest.

Value: Race 7, Number 1, Tygerphinn
The gate could end up being tricky but at odds, I have to be with him each way. NSW visitor that certainly has talent, good enough to run well here. Luck hasn’t been with it in recent runs, so hopefully can hold up from the gate and if that does eventuate, I think he only runs well.

Goulburn
Best Bet: Race 2, Number 10, Resolute Bay

There are two schools of thought here. First is that he drops miles in grade/depth and will be far too good for them. Or second, despite racing in better races, he’s indeed no good and will struggle. I’m thinking it’s the first thought process.

He should really be winning this on what he has done to date so I’ll stick with the Morris camp to placing him right.

Next Best: Race 4, Number 1, Parallel
Similar to stablemate Resolute Bay. Think the drop back in grade/depth is a big tick. Doesn’t come out of strong Menangle races, but Menangle form is much stronger than most of these. Likely lands leaders back and from there, I think he’ll take a power of beating.

Value: Race 5, Number 9, Adams It
His overall form is just fair, but he looks to get a really good map in his corner, potentially landing leaders back. He wasn’t suited at West Wyalong last time, with that track being tight and tricky for some horses to handle. If he can get leaders back, he’s in with a shout at odds.
