Two meetings to look at on Friday, with Bendigo and Newcastle getting my focus. Down below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Bendigo
Best Bet: Race 3, Number 5, Beach Music

Does look a race in two but with the barrier draw advantage, I’m quite keen on this filly to get the job done. Brilliant winner at Geelong last time and the form out of that has been ticked off. Think she will lead this field up, have a head start on market threat Bettor Twist and prove too good.

Next Best: Race 4, Number 2, Life’s A Beach
Similar to the previous race, it’s a race in two. But I’ll go with the Kiwi raider here, who has the barrier draw advantage. She brings some A1 form from New Zealand with her and is now with Andy Gath, one of the best in the business when it comes to improving a horse. She should be able to lead and will be hard to get past.

Value: Race 6, Number 1, One Big Shew
More of a place bet, likely a 1×3 bet. I doubt he’s good enough to win but gets run of the race from the draw. Too far back two back at Maryborough, then went to Swan Hill and was a bit on the plain side after getting a suck run. He’ll get the suck run again here and his best is good enough to fill a minor spot.

Newcastle
Best Bet: Race 1, Number 2, Glamour Fox

She looks a great bet in the opener. Backing up from Saturday night where she contested a Group l at Menangle and was far from disgraced behind a star in Anntonia. This is a massive drop in grade/depth for her and if she can hold a forward spot, she’ll take beating here.

Next Best: Race 2, Number 4, What Now Shannon
He can be a bit hit and miss, but he finds a good race to get into the winners list. Did a good job last time out here from a wide gate, finding the line with purpose. Drawn better this time around, he should be able to get across and lead, and from there, prove hard to get past.

Value: Race 5, Number 1, A Gift From Heaven
I reckon he is worth an each way ticket at a price. Got splits late to win two back before getting buried on the pegs last time and not really getting the rub of the green. Drawn the pole, he has the gate speed to hold up and from the front, he could run a cheeky race.
