There are two meetings to look at on Wednesday night, with Geelong and Bathurst getting my attention.

Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Geelong

Best bet: Race 10, Number 3, Southshore
This horse should be short but should be winning. This horse is a former Kiwi that has had two runs for Andy Gath and has been quite strong each time. In both runs, he did plenty of work and stuck on gamely. This horse should get a comfortable lead here and barring any bad luck, he wins comfortably.

Next best: Race 1, Number 1, Atlantas
She has only won one race, but she’s a great bet here. Her effort in defeat in Melton last time was enormous after sitting three wide for the last lap, only just feeling the pinch late. This horse has the inside gate to lead and from in front, she’ll take beating.

Value: Race 7, Number 1, Black And Gold
This mare is worth an each-way ticket in what looks like an even contest. This horse had the suck run behind the speed at Bendigo last time out and was able to sprint lane to victory. This horse has the gate to do no work once again and in a race where luck in running will be needed, she’s worth a ticket each way at odds.

Bathurst

Best bet: Race 3, Number 9, Infinity Beach
This horse looks like the good thing on the night. There is a lot to like about her win at Dubbo last time out, running a fast overall time relative to the meeting. This horse showed gate speed and landed in a good spot but that aside, he was still impressive. This horse has drawn a second-row draw but is the lone horse there so should get into a good spot and prove too good.

Next best: Race 7, Number 8, Graffiti Lane
This juvenile is still learning his craft, but there is no doubting he has a decent engine under the hood. That engine helped him overcome bad manners to win here on Sunday in impressive fashion. His manners are hit and miss, but he should be winning provided he does everything right.

Value: Race 6, Number 1, For No Reason
I am taking a chance with this filly each way. Her form from last prep was just fair and her efforts were nothing to jump up and down about. But I was quite taken by a recent trial win at this track where she ran time and did it quite comfortably. I am happy to back this horse each way.
