Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with Bendigo and Redcliffe getting my attention. Down below are best bets for the respective programs.

Bendigo

Best bet: Race 10, Number 1, Heza Son Of Agun
He’s a smart colt that should prove far too good for this lot. He comes here off the back of a Group 1 win at Melton when a dominant winner in fast overall time. Takes on the older horses, but looks very much a class above these and should be winning comfortably, all things being equal.

Next-best: Race 9, Number 5, Hes A Hammer
This colt looks smart and I think can take this out. Hasn’t raced since December 29 when close up in a Group 3 at Geelong. He has the speed to find the front here and provided he brings his best manners, he looks the one to beat and should be winning this en route to better races.

Value: Race 3, Number 1, Dont Wast Time
I think she is worth an each way ticket in what looks a competitive race. This mare wasn’t too bad in defeat at Cobram last time after getting back in the run and not being beaten too far. Drawn the pole, I think she can land behind the leader and from there, be dangerous at odds.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race 1, Number 2, Mullum Doc
Should be a short but sweet watch. He hasn’t had much luck with gates throughout his short career but that all changes here with a good front line gate to push forward. His recent efforts have been very sound and with the lead there to be had, he clearly looks the one to beat.

Next-best: Race 5, Number 1, Always At Night
I think he’s racing well this guy and from the pole, he’s in with a shout. He tends to save his best for Redcliffe and I think he lands in front from the pole. Just had to drag back from the gate last time and couldn’t get involved. With the better get this time around, he’ll take beating.

Value: Race 9, Number 7, Rockslide
Ideally you’d love to get an each way price for him but either way, I think he’s a great bet. Had the suck run behind the speed at Albion Park and battled on well in defeat when third, beaten just under three metres. He lands leaders back I think and from there, only runs well.
