Two meetings to look at on Wednesday, with Tabcorp Park Melton and Redcliffe getting my attention. Down below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Tabcorp Park Melton

Best bet: Race 3, Number 3, Kyvalleyhoneybunny
A welcomed inside gate should see this girl take a power of beating. She ran a couple of weeks ago at Kilmore where she was chasing the leader from a fair way out and didn’t stop chasing in a good effort when second. Had gate seven and now has gate three. She’ll be near the speed and prove hard to beat.

Next-best: Race 7, Number 1, Just As Well
Some horses just need a certain set up to fire. In the case of this mare, she needs to lead to be effective, and from gate one, with Chris Alford to steer, she will lead. Couldn’t find the front first up and that saw her finish down the track as a short priced favourite. Better set up this time around, she can bounce back.

Value: Race 8, Number 1, Franco
Worth a small 1×3 bet at big odds. I don’t think he has been too bad in recent starts despite never really being a winning threat after getting back off the speed. He has a good draw to use this time around, and likely lands behind the leader. From that spot, I think he can run a positive race.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race 7, Number 1, Rainbow Jet
Talented four-year-old who is much better than what the winning strike rate suggests. Closed off well last week here but couldn’t quite get there when second. He does seem a bit on the one paced side so I am hoping he can lead, roll and break their hearts. If that eventuates, he’ll win.

Next-best: Race 4, Number 1, New Yorker
Has the Belinda McCarthy polish and that should be good enough to get away with this. Hasn’t exactly fired his past two runs, both at Albion Park, but he’s had excuses on both occasions. Drawn the pole, he should hold the lead comfortably and at his best, he’ll take running down.

Value: Race 3, Number 1, Senora Jujon
Lightly raced mare taking on some seasoned campaigners but from the pole and at each way odds, she’s worth a bet. 12/10 steer from Grant Dixon saw her win here last Wednesday and break a run of outs. Harder here, but she should get every chance to run well from the pole.
