Two meetings to look at on Wednesday, with Maryborough and Redcliffe getting my attention.

Maryborough

Best bet: Race 3, Number 3, Rinaaz
Looks to be ideal placement by Emma Stewart with this filly, who is on debut and confident it’ll be a winning debut. She’s had a couple of trials to get ready for start one, winning the latest trial at this track in good late splits. Should find the front comfortably and too sharp for this bunch.

Next best: Race 4, Number 2, National News
He’ll be short but he should be winning. Quality three-year-old for Craig Turnbull that drops miles in grade/depth after racing at Group 1 level at Melton last time where he was outclassed but far from disgraced in defeat. He should bully his way to the top here and take a power of beating.

Value: Race 6, Number 1, Ser Patrick
This gelding will land on speed and I think give plenty of cheeky at a price. Landed the 1/1 first up at Melton and battled on okay in defeat when fourth. He does race better when sitting near the front and he has the gate to do that, so at odds, he’s worth an each way ticket.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race 4, Number 3, Jackbkwik
If he can relax in front and harness his speed and energy better, he wins. Resumed at this track where he just went too keen in front and that left him gassed late when third. That was his first run at the track so he’ll be better for the experience and with the freshness taken out of him now, he’ll be ready to go.

Next best: Race 5, Number 1, Kookaburraprincess
This mare should bounce back to her winning ways. Odds on pop last Wednesday here where she had the 1/1 sit and looked to get every chance fourth. Was that an end of prep run? Not sure, but from gate one, she should lead easily and get every chance to bounce back into the winners list.

Value: Race 7, Number 1, Pageantry
Overall, it’s a bludger of a race, so will have something small each-way on this veteran, who has been pretty plain his past couple. Tailed off last two back before a somewhat ordinary effort here last time out behind a handy one, Mollidor. Does no work from the pole and can run a cheeky race at a big price.
