Two meetings to look at on Saturday night, with Albion Park and Tabcorp Park Menangle getting my attention. Down below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 7, Number 1, Chasing The Wind
A massive upgrade with a barrier from last start leads me to think he is the best on the card on what does look a tricky night. Just got too far back from a wide gate last Saturday but I thought his finale was full of merit in defeat behind Fond Memories. From the pole, he’ll get run of the race, and potentially could lead. Hard to beat.

Next-best: Race 9, Number 2, Will The Wizard
I’m quite keen on him here with the way the map reads to my eye. He didn’t want any part of the speed battle last week and eased back to get a peg sit, working to the line well late. The draw this time should see him get the lead, and I’d say comfortably. If that is indeed the case, he’ll take beating.

Value: Race 6, Number 1, Bettor Memories
This mare doesn’t have the best of records at the track, but I think she’s racing well, she’ll be double figure odds and in a tough race, she’s worth an each way speck. Close up in defeat here on Tuesday, albeit in a race weaker than this, but she draws to do no work and there is a question mark on how well some of the key fancies are going.

Best bet: Race 9, Number 6, Tough Monarch
The market will be fascinating given there is a well-performed Kiwi making his Australian debut for the Fitzpatrick team, but Tough Monarch is one of the best in Australia and the best NSW has to offer. Far from disgraced in the Great Southern Star Series at Melton before bolting up from the front here last week.

He has great early speed, so he should find the front comfortably and be winning.

Next-best: Race 8, Number 10, Cruz Bromac
This guy has had a few homes throughout his career but there is no denying that no matter what stable he is in, he is still a classy animal, as displayed here just under two weeks ago in his first run for Jason Grimson – he smashed the clock in a dominant win. He has gate speed, should lead and prove very tough to get past.

Value: Race 7, Number 1, Better Eclipse
Race seven is indeed the feature, the Chariots Of Fire, and I think this gelding is a great each way gamble. He should have won the Paleface Adios last time. Just had no luck in the straight when Sugars wanted to get clear but he charged late when eventually getting clear air. He draws to stalk the leader and if the breaks come his way, he’ll only run well.
