Two meetings to look at on Saturday, with Albion Park and Tabcorp Park Menangle getting my attention. Down below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 10, Number 4, Red Castleton

Hoping the market likes him. Classy trotter that resumes, having not raced since the Inter Dominion series where he was far from disgraced for the most part in what was obviously a top-class series. Trialled well enough to my eye and is suited under mobile conditions. Class gets him home.

Next-best: Race 1, Number 1, Star Galleria

Market will be fascinating but if it trends towards him, it’ll tell us that he’s ready to go fresh. Formerly with Belinda McCarthy, he now finds himself with Ricky Thurlow. He’s probably not the horse he once was, but he looked sharp in a recent trial and anywhere near his best, he just wins this.

Value: Race 6, Number 1, Explicit Castle

Hoping we can get an each way price about this guy. His recent efforts have been just plain and has had suck runs in recent starts, which is what he likely gets again here, but he does find a thin race on paper and his best is clearly good enough to take this out. I actually wouldn’t mind seeing him lead.

Something different and see if he reacts positively.

Tabcorp Park Menangle

Best bet: Race 5, Number 2, King Of Swing

This won’t be easy for the champ coming back to the mile after winning the Hunter Cup (2760m), but simply, he is the best Australia has got and he sizzles around Menangle. He is being prepped towards the Miracle Mile so this isn’t a grand final, but he has class, he’s a champion and that gets him home.

Next-best: Race 6, Number 1, Stylish Memphis

High-class former Kiwi that is three from three since joining Jack Trainor and no reason why she can’t make it four out of four. Arrogant win two weeks ago in the Sibelia and did so in a sizzling mile rate. Should get the A1 run behind Fairy Tinkabell, perfect drag up and her class will come to the fore.

Value: Race 1, Number 1, Letsrockletsroll

This eight-year-old is definitely worth a speck in the opener. Last two runs have come at this track where he has drawn a touch awkwardly each time and failed to be in the finish, but has been far from disgraced. He comes up with a beaut draw here to do no work and be strong late.
