Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with Redcliffe and Penrith getting my attention. Down below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race 4, Number 5, Indy Jewel

Pretty keen on this filly. She has had two runs back from a spell. Resumed with a third to Tims A Trooper, who bolted up in a NSW Derby heat last Saturday night. Indy Jewel then raced here where she didn’t get much luck from a bad gate. I think she can cross and lead this field up, and back a fair bit in depth, she’ll take beating.

Next-best: Race 2, Number 1, Timenpatience

She gets a great chance to get back into the winners list. Ran at this track last start where she looked home when presented, but couldn’t quite finish it off and was nabbed late. From the pole, I think she holds the front and in front over the sprint trip at Redcliffe is a definite advantage.

Value: Race 6, Number 7, Oyster Stride

I think he’s worth an each way speck. Had a suck run behind the speed when racing here last time out but copped some interference, some of it his own doing, and should have finished a touch closer. He’ll get a soft trip once again, and with the rub of the green, can threaten at a price.

Penrith

Best bet: Race 3, Number 4, Machs Legacy

She looks the good thing of the night. Bumped into Madrid first up before racing here again where she led then opted for a sit when a close up second. There will be no handing up here. She’ll lead, comfortably, and third up, hard fit, it all points to her taking this race out.

Next-best: Race 6, Number 1, Yankee Ideal

Trainer Paul Fitzpatrick will win the race. Just a matter of which one and I think the lesser fancied of his pair can take it out. Stablemate Highinauckland has gate speed and looks the leader off the back of some decent trial work, but Yankee Ideal was enormous in defeat at Newcastle last time out after doing a stack of work.

He’ll get the A1 run in transit and be hard to hold out late.

Value: Race 1, Number 7, Paidinfull

I doubt he can win, but a small 1×3 play looks the option. The way I’m reading this race, the five horse will come out and lead, the one lands box seat and this gelding lands three back in what I think will be a peg dominated affair.

He hasn’t been too bad in recent times and if the way I’m reading this race is the way it indeed plays out, he’s a good chance to run top three.
