There are two meetings to look at on Monday, with my attention being at Globe Derby and Stawell.

Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Globe Derby

Best bet: Race 1, Number 1, Make Mine Muscle
I am pretty confident this four-year-old can make it three on the bounce. He bolted up here last Saturday night when stepping away from the stand in smart fashion, finding the front and winning comfortably. He should lead comfortably from the pole here and the mobile. It will be a painless watch.

Next best: Race 2, Number 1, Imasocialbutterfly
This mare is bursting to win her maiden and she gets her chance here. She was game in defeat last Sunday at Gawler when working outside the speed and battling away gamely in defeat to finish second. This horse should hold up from the pole and in front, she’ll take beating.

Value: Race 5, Number 1, Caesar Moment
He’s worth an each-way ticket in what looks a competitive race. He was far from disgraced last time out here last Saturday behind Make Mine Muscle, who should win the opener so the form will read well and the depth here isn’t as strong.

Stawell

Best bet: Race 5, Number 2, Drain The Swamp
This horse is a quality four-year-old that resumes and he can resume a winner. This horse hasn’t raced since November 13 when down the track in Melton behind Major Moth. This horse resumes without a trial, but he has class on his side. He should find the front and take beating.

Next best: Race 8, Number 1, Im Princess Bella
This horse is a talented filly that resumes and she should take beating first up. This horse hasn’t raced since December 4 in Melton when far from disgraced in defeat in the Youthful Stakes. The overall form around her reads well and although she resumes without a trial, she looks hard to beat.

Value: Race 1, Number 8, Jaden Gil
This horse is 12 years of age but he still maintains a healthy zest. Forgive the last-start effort at Maryborough when breaking and costing himself any chance of being in the finish. He has a good record at Stawell and that is a big tick given this track can be quite tricky, especially for a trotter.
