There are two meetings to look forward to on Thursday, with my focus on Albion Park and Penrith.

Down below are my best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park

Best bet – Race 1, No. 1; Goldies A Delight

She’s short – very short – but an ideal multi booster. She went to Menangle for NSW Oaks prep, where she ran a game second in a heat before being down the track in the final. She returns home and has drawn the pole, so she should lead quite comfortably. Barring any misfortune, it’ll be a painless watch.

Next-best bet – Race 5, No. 2: Go Go Jolt

Marburg form to Albion Park, it should be taken with a grain of salt, but the thing going for this mare is that she’s a tough horse that can do work on speed and find. That was the case at Marburg, but she got the job done and will be strong at the end. I’m happy to be in her corner.

Value bet – Race 4, No. 1: Rolled In Gold

She’s not a bad mare making her Albion Park debut, and she’s worth a 1×3 bet at odds. Her recent runs have come at Redcliffe, where she hasn’t been far away of late without winning. She should land in a plum spot from the gate, ideally leaders back. If that eventuates, she’s in with a shout.

Penrith

Best bet – Race 6, No. 3: Lillies

There’s a bit of depth to this race, but this mare is flying, looks like a leader and is clearly the best on the program. She just found them a bit sharp at Group 3 level at Menangle last time out before racing here three weeks ago, where she led and gapped them. She has the gate speed to lead and will take beating.

Next-best bet – Race 5, No. 1: Stingray Tara

If he gets around Penrith, he’ll be the one to beat in the feature contest. He has done a fab job since joining Amanda Turnbull, winning impressively on a couple of occasions at Menangle, where sustained speed has come to the fore. He looks like a leader and should prove hard to run down.

Value bet – Race 1, No. 7: Flyin Circles

He is getting on in years but is racing well and does no work from inside the second row. He had a horror draw last time out and copped a check. Despite that, he ran a beauty when third. Ideally he’ll get leaders back but will be three back at worst, and he’ll do no work and be strong at the end.
