There are two meetings to look at on Friday, with Maryborough and Gloucester Park getting my attention. Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Maryborough

Best bet: Race 9, Number 2, Love Gun
If he brings his best, he wins. Be very forgiving of his last-start effort at Melton when galloping away from the stand and throwing away any chance as a short-priced favourite. His wins prior were dominant so if he brings that here, he’s clearly the one they have to beat.

Next best: Race 5, Number 7, Speedy Lover
This horse is a progressive three-year-old for David Aitken that spanked them to break the maiden tag last time out at Bendigo, having little trouble from the gate and winning by over 20 metres. If he can overcome it again, he’ll lead and from in front, it’ll be a case of good luck beating them.

Value: Race 2, Number 3, Mister Nien
He’s a 1×3 bet at odds. This horse worked on speed at Melton two back and battled away quite well in defeat when second. Then this horse went to Ballarat and just forget he went around. He’ll find the front from the inside gate and in a tricky race, he’s worth an each-way ticket.

Gloucester Park

Best bet: Race 3, Number 1, Heez Our Perseus
I am really keen on this guy from the pole. This horse just did a bit too much work from the wide gate last time out and actually did a really good job in defeat. From the pole, he holds the lead and in front, in a very winnable race, he’s clearly the pony to bet on and should get an okay price.

Next best: Race 1, Number 1, Unconditional
This looks like a dead set in two but with the barrier draw, I am confident this mare can turn the tables on Nevermindthechaos. That horse got complete control last time out and this mare was eased back for cover and just couldn’t get involved. She’ll lead this time around and take beating.

Value: Race 4, Number 10, Space Junk
High-class mare Alta Cinderella draws the pole and should have little trouble holding the lead. Space Junk is drawn directly behind her and should land box seat. This gelding hasn’t been too far away of late and getting leaders back, he’s an outstanding 1×3 bet at odds.
