The New York Giants have begun their season with a 1-3 win-loss record and are in serious trouble.

Giants fans were as excited as ever over the offseason after winning a road wildcard game in last season’s playoffs. Everything looked to be heading in the right direction, and the plan was for this season’s success to begin in week one against the Dallas Cowboys.

Beating a historic divisional rival for the first time since 2016 would’ve been a superb way to kick off their campaign. But a Giants success story was ripped up and burned just one half into the new season. Dallas led 26-0 at the halftime break and continued their dominance as they scored forty points and left New York with a donut.

The Giants’ only win this season came against the Cardinals, who are one of the worst teams in the league. This standalone win did not come without drama, as it took a historic comeback to win their first match. New York could easily be winless right now (although their 1-3 record certainly isn’t much better) and there’s a very low chance that it will look much prettier in a month’s time.

The Giants’ next month begin with two road games against the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins before taking on the Washington Commanders and New York Jets. Miami and Buffalo are both games that have a very good chance of ending in major blowouts. Both of those teams have a high-powered offense and this Giants team is one of the worst in the league. Unless something crucial about the Giants changes, we could be witnessing forty and/or fifty-point defeats.

To add to this, the Commanders are looking like a competitive team this year and the New York Derby will be a low-scoring bore fest which could go either way.

The Giants offense is certainly their worst aspect. They’ve combined for as little as three points over the course of their two home games. Their most recent game against the Seahawks was a perfect summary of how poor the Daniel Jones offense really is. Jones was sacked a grand total of eleven times and threw two picks.

It’s easy to point the finger directly at the quarterback; however, the offensive line is simply dreadful. Only a quarterback with the world’s fastest reaction time would be able to get rid of that ball and avoid the sacks Jones took over the weekend. Before the match last Sunday, the Seahawks defence had five sacks recorded over their first three outings. This number was more than doubled.

The lack of protection for Daniel Jones is unacceptable, but this doesn’t prompt too many excuses for Jones. His decision making is terrible, and he recently signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with $92 million guaranteed. Jones has averaged 158 yards per game, along with six interceptions. This is atrocious and not good enough for the tenth highest paid quarterback in the NFL.

Danny Dimes is not playing like he’s worth the money and as Shannon Sharpe said, his new nickname should be ‘Danny Crimes’. At the moment, he’s stealing money from the Giants.
