Israel Folau is a key reason why religious freedom and freedom of speech have been a massive topic in Australia and worldwide. Every day since the news broke, both online, social and print media has been pumping articles after articles, just like the Roar has. For example, the thousands of comments on facebook for channel 9,10,7, SBS, ABC, sports websites, Christian websites etc show many people concerned about freedom of speech and religion. For more than a month before the election, unless you live in a Rock, Izzy was on the news. Religions leaders sent letters to the major parties to clarify their positions on religions freedom. But you know that. So again, please provide data to support your position or refute mine.

The swing to Labor or to anti-Liberal independents, was actually strongest in wealthy urban constituencies ― those constituencies where people had most to lose financially from Labor’s tax and spend agenda. Conversely, it was the less wealthy, outer-urban and rural voters who supported the Coalition in droves, and these are the very people who ought to have been most tempted by Labor’s promises of wealth redistribution. Labor increased its vote in inner city constituencies as well as affluent suburbs ― traditionally the Liberal heartland ― whereas it suffered some big swings against it in its own heartland. So perhaps franking credits and negative gearing are not the main reasons eh?
Bill Shorten was harrassing ScoMo during the campaign about his views on homo-sexuality and going to Hell – guess that back-fired.
From the ABC: “Labor may want to look at its attitude to religious faith among the causes of its disastrous performance. It did poorly in areas of Australia where religious faith ― of all kinds ― is alive and well.”

Mobbing = more hysteria and aggression. It’s a funeral at the offices of the left wing media, and on this note here is an article today from ABC where their employees are 5x more likely to vote for the Greens.

This article from the ABC today (where employees are 5 times more likely to vote for Greens than the general population) supported the figures I provided yesterday from looking at all the marginal seats with high religion update.

Religion was used as a political weapon by Bill Shorten during the election, and ScoMo was constantly asked about his views on homosexuality and going to hell, strangely enough what Izzy was asked. Guess it back-fired.

Any more excuses or can we look forward to some data from you to support your position?

That’s right -AK, TWAS and the usual clique keep going on and on about Shahid Afridis and attack those who deem it irrelevant to the Folau case ( as it is different religion, different sport and different scenario) so here we have same sport and same scenario with alleged homophobia, but it is dismissed as having “nothing to do with the Folau case” as it is a “different organisation”.

They just keep demanding facts and data (so I provided them with more, Stillmissit – read on below if you are interested in the election), and refuse to refute with any facts or data to support their position. To be honest it’s a waste of time with this lot. They are totally infatuated with their own opinion.

Top marginal seats for highest percentage of religion based on census:
Lindsay NSW – previously Labor, now NLP gain
Banks NSW – LNP retain
Herbert QLD – previously labor, now LNP gain
Capricornia – LNP retain
Dawson – LNP retain
Flynn – LNP retain
This trend continues for the next 8 seats where about 35% of seats previously occupied by ALP goes to LNP.
At this point, I leave you with my favourite video of Dame Lillard waving goodbye to Russell Westbrook on hitting the series ending game winning three pointer.

Sheek, it must be hard for the left elitist and the queer fascists to accept a re-elected “happy-clappy” Christian prime minister :). The media all thought Billary was going to win by a landslide, laughing at everyone who says the Liberal has a chance.

That’s an “exclusive” group 🙂 Any room for a multi-lingual right wing Christian nationalist? I promise not to damn any of you to Hell. Also I suspect TWAS will need my help to avoid getting bashed by the local triad since he has God given gift for piss..g off everyone around him 😛

RA’s entire legal team is on the Roar today. It appears Izzy has no chance.

Put forward some facts and evidence to support your position then, Aussikiwi. I’ll wait…(not too long though – I have a right wing religious nationalist meeting to attend).

Hey Cowboy, after many back-and-forth between us, I feel strangely conflicted. I’m prepared to change my mind too and accept your offer. Of objective financial advice, I mean.

The criticism of Spiro is pretty hyperbolic too, Markus.

The anti-Folau camp here has dismissed the influence of religious freedom on this election when I brought this up over the weekend.

Israel Folau has been the face of religious freedom and freedom of speech – the media coverage for Izzy here and around the world is massive. IMHO, sacking Folau the day before the election was ScoMo’s early Christmas present. In the last few weeks, over 300 independent schools, of which 94% have religious affiliation has campaigned hard to lobby parents to vote with religious freedom in mind.
The pushing of LGBT sexuality in schools does not sit well with many parents. For eg, Students at a New South Wales public high school have been encouraged to wear LGBTQ themed clothing to show support for the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. Hosting the “Rainbow Mufti Day”, students were that participants will be expected to hand over a $1 donation. However, any student in mufti who fails to wear an item of rainbow clothing will be required to pay twice as much as those donning LGBTQ colours.

There were back-lash from traditional Labor seats. For eg:
Bekhos Karam, an information systems manager and former Labor voter, told The Australian that discussion of Scott Morrison’s religion during the campaign and news of Israel Folau ‘‘put a dent on his vote for Labor’’.
“Scott Morrison was all about religious freedom, and I felt that Bill Shorten wasn’t,” the 35-year-old father of two said.
He attends church regularly with his family in Punchbowl, and sends his children to a religious school.
“We as a community just felt it was the right decision. And believe me, the Lebanese community does not usually vote for the Liberals; they are pro-Labor,” he said.

This is based on the assumption that Israel’s post to is of similar vein to imposing Sharia Law or committing istishad. Clearly, you and several others think it is, but others like I do not think it is.

Dear Spiro,
I have read many of your articles in the SMH since immigrating to this great country with my family. We came from a totalitarian state who persecuted dissidents. My grand-uncle and his son, both in the opposition party were thrown into jail for 10 years, without trial. People do not understand what freedom of speech is until it is taken away from them. Allowing this to happen to Izzy sets a very dangerous precedent. I am sad to see all the personal attacks on you for writing this article. In my culture, respect for the elders (and I hope I am not being age-ist here) is sacrosanct. Thank you again for supporting Israel.

“It’s just one of those things. We got together. The boys did it last week against the Reds. I had to do an interview, so I didn’t get to go out there with them,” Genia said.
From the article, thanks.

yep 😛

Thank you, Spiros. Israel Folau is not a homophobe. His role in the Bingham cup supporting the LGBT rugby community, his character on and off the field have been neglected, all for one lousy post. More and more are standing with Izzy.

Israel Folau has been unfairly hounded out of Australian rugby

I thought of exactly that and refrained from replying. How ironic 😛 If only TWAS realized what he “liked”, haha.

Folau losing a game he loves: Genia

You want him to be sacked, and punished for his actions (which he firmly believes he has done anything wrong in the practice of his faith), and you want to show us you have empathy and compassion for him as a human being. Then you said “to be honest…my empathy is mainly for gay people.
It is hard to be virtuous.

Folau losing a game he loves: Genia

Probably the best comment here, KCOL with regards to the language that he used. If Izzy has deleted that meme and explain in his own words , for example salvation from hell would probably be better than damnation to hell (even though the message is the same). It just blows my mind an otherwise outstanding player, respected, liked and even revered by his peers has his contract terminated.

Folau losing a game he loves: Genia

It’s hard not to hear of these “standards” since you are shouting them from the roof-top in a display of piety to Rugby Austtralia. And I thought Izzy was religious!

Folau losing a game he loves: Genia

Interesting you mention Catholic and Labour Party. I think the influence is a lot less now.

Israel Folau issues statement after contract termination

Their bench especially VanVleet has been terrible. Danny Green surprisingly has gone south and Gasol as well. Ibaka and Powell to start?? Maybe even give JLin a go even though he has been terrible prior to the playoffs.
