“Bart gets to ride up front today because he’s a good guy at sports” - fan of anything and everything there is to do with sports. Main loves are the NBA, NFL, NRL and of course Rugby. From New Zealand so have a tall poppy perspective on everything and a bit of an underdog complex as well. Trying to provide a mix of humour and insight in everything I do.

No Piru, more that let’s pretend these players knew how to scrum etc so the sport specific skills don’t matter (scrum, lineout, breakdown). Picked More for their athletic ability and rugby knowledge.
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Agreed Piru, it was an outrageous idea at the time and should never happen. Someone is bound to get a serious injury, probably a league player from a scrum.
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Agreed, they would struggle at lineouts as a strange skill set for a league player. Klemmer weighs less than the average union lock however so might not have an issue getting chucked up there (I realise a lineout is a lot more nuanced than this)
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Agreed. As they say it’s like watching two different sports, because they are so different: a lot of time for both but it’s fun to plug players across and think about how would do well!

A few props out there who are similar height to Payne but yea not the easiest transition when you are that tall
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Thanks Michael! Appreciate the comment
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Yea I agree, the man has so much talent I’d be intrigued with what he could do!
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Cheers TRexxx, tried to get it as best I could. Would love to see Haas after a few months of union training running around as a dynamic prop
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Cheers Zak, meant to be a bit of fun! Definitely always a good topic of conversation
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Yea i definitely thought about Teddy at 15 but gave the benefit to Ponga and his kicking game. Lack of space at 13 would hurt him but hes pretty good at creating space for himself!
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Definitely, gotta love that marketing.
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Agreed. It would be an interesting experience but probably shouldn’t happen without the proper amount of time to train. Munster is a good shout at 10, definitely has the skills to dominate that position.
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Yea nice addition matth. Welch slipped my mind!
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Agreed OvalBall, great chat there! Don’t even think that the All Blacks would have a shot in a league game against a professional team, would love to see it purely for the spectical but it definitely shouldn’t happen.
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Agreed Nat, don’t think there is a world in which either team could crossover and simply dominate, would take time to learn the new code.
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Yea as expected, real life would be a different kettle of fish. Skills required are so different that it simply wouldn’t work, especially going Union. I think they would be easier to go League but it would still be so different for the Union players
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Definitely, I can see Nic Nat being a dominant lock if he went the Union way with his athleticism.

Thanks Tony, appreciate the comment. Trying to write stuff that I would like to read!
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Cheers Tony, always willing to improve. Gotta love the keyboard warriors!
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
I appreciate the feedback Dominic. If you could be more specific that would be great as looking to improve. Cheers

Like the team Big Diesel! NAS was very close to pushing into my starting squad at lock. Munster definitely has the potential to be deadly with a bit more space that 10 would give him in Union. Yea Ado Carrs pace would be a killer as long as he got open field ball.
Papenhuyzen would fill a similar role to Damien Mackenzie, similar style of play.
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Crazy! Great line about scrummaging and a number of penalties for collapsing the scrum. Would definitely be the hardest transition for League players without at least a few months of scrum technique practice!
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Haha definitely. Joey Leilua would be a force in centres, if he didn’t get red carded first!
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Haas is the same heigh as a few dominant union props, Ofa Tu’ungafasi is 1.95m, tall for a prop but he goes pretty good. Fair enough about Mahoney, i’d just love to see the quickness of Cook exploiting the edges of the ruck.
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Agreed Pickett! Some people are a tad too serious. Classic pub yarn this one, similar to who would win in a fight? We don’t wanna know the answer cause it’s great to debate!
