Hadn’t seen that yet. Will take a look

Whatever Cec.
Does death riding the Tahs ever get tiresome?
Whatever will the Brumbies do if they can’t recruit most of their players from NSW and teach them to hate where they come from.
I hope one day the Brumbies can afford mirrors in the home change rooms at Bruce.

Just read your first two comments. That he’s only a running flyhalf and kicks at 69%.
.
Of course I nominate Larkham, he was our best 10 that didn’t kick for poles.

Cec, would you have not picked Larkham?
Other players can kick.

Those selection decisions are good. Keen to see Harrison get a run, Jorgensen should be getting a go at club level.
Hoping we see Harry Wilson get another run, was good v the Crusaders and barely seen since.

Very dangerous. Growing crowds, growing contracts.
Already many of our best club players go there and we are lucky to get the odd one like Vailanu and Goddard back.
Exclusive: Wallabies star weighing up big move to England
I don’t want a hand out. Just a sarcastic comment in response to your suggestion with zero substance behind it of just magic up some more money and make it work.
How much money do you think we can magic up to counter the allure of the French, English, Japanese, URC, MLR, NRL and AFL comps?
We cannot outbid that lot given our place in the Oz sporting landscape.
The code is ranked around 32nd among organised sports by participation, as an aside, badminton has more than double the playing numbers.

Well I guess WR could keep gifting us WC’s and doubling our attendance grant for tournaments we don’t host.
Let that subsidise our comp we can’t make financially work.
Or you know, maybe we could live within our means. Crazy idea, I know.

He should earn what he is worth and the Wallabies should still select him.
He’s playing very well

Nice one Picco.
It’s interesting to see that rise in revenue even as we watch the broadcast, sponsorship and attendance figures drop from prior highs.
All while the combined increase in revenues across rival competitions dwarfs our growth and sees an increasing attraction for players we’d dearly love in our main comp.
We must not just maintain but continue to grow the national footprint, we must be economically sustainable. For me a domestic comp with Wallabies selected from where our best players are is our only path.
From World Cup glory to a financial precipice. Where did the $48 million go?
No doubt most people will have different squads in mind.
Even myself, realised after I put that up I was thinking of Tamaiti Williams not George Bower

Old debt was 25m at 7% over swap rate.
New debt at 6.25% over swap rate paid off the old and drew down a further 25m.

it all depends on who turns up on the day and which folk are available and selected 100% Nood.
I’d love to see something like:
1. Angus Bell / Ehtan de Groot
2. Brandon Paenga-Amosa / Asafo Aumua
3. Alan Alaalatoa / Tyrell Lomax
4. Izack Rodda / Scott Barrett
5. Will Skelton / Patrick Tuipulotu
6. Rob Leota / Samipeni Finau
7. Fraser McReight / Ardie Savea
8. Rob Valetini / Hoskins Sotutu
16. Tolu Latu / Samisoni Taukei’aho
17. Blake Schoupp / George Bower
18. Taniela Tupou / Fletcher Newell
19. Lukhan Salakaia-Loto / Tupou Vai’i
20. Pete Samu / Dalton Papali’i
I think those packs match up pretty well and the bigger determinant would be how they compete as a unit rather than one set of players outclassing the others.
Obviously others will have other opinions over who should be in the team but even more than opinion we won’t see the above as there will be injuries and Australia will not select all the overseas based players.

I was off above. Part is related to the loan, suspect the larger part is the failed PE process.
Rugby Australia announce $9.2m deficit, board member fails to be re-elected but coup falls over
And then 42m this time around?
I’d be surprised.
Am trying to see what other unions have released their accounts and how much they got from WR. Saw NZ’s not out yet, will look for some others tomorrow.

It’s under Revenue and Other income. 31,195,000 described as World Rugby Grants.
As I say separate from the Financial Liability line that wiped from 10,154,000 to zero in World Rugby Funding which was the bailout/early payment of World Cup Participation money.

What’s the value to take that one game a week off free to air?
I can’t see that’s it’s very much so why would Fox come in with a significantly larger offer.
RA will be banking on the shared broadcast revenue with NZ, not that RA are bringing much to the party.
I thought they were going to negotiate together?
Rugby Australia announce $9.2m deficit, board member fails to be re-elected but coup falls over
They spent 2.4m on interest last year, at current rates will spend 5.3m this year.
The absolute kicker for me is that professional fees increased by 2.8m (1.9m up to 4.7m).
They say most of that 2.8m was professional advice helping arrange the new loan.
10.5m over two years on debt, and more to come

Trying to work out what that could be. Maybe an advance on hosting the 2027 event?

WR seem to have given RA 32m and I’ve no idea what it is.
That seems to be on top of forgiving the 10m we owed from their prior bail out (which was written off as an advance on our WC participation).
Our loan note from Ares was paid off by the new loan from PEP but the debt jumped, 25m last year is now 50m – worth calling out the interest rate is a smidge better at 6.25% over the swap rate (previously 7m over).

Not sure if I’m reading the report correctly but think a large part of that is associated with the hand over of the Tahs.
The big drops in revenue (compared to 2022) came from:
RA Funding down 700k
Stadium Rebate down 1m
Course Fees and Other Revenue down 2.9m
That’s 4.6m down in revenue and very close to the 4.8m loss. Not sure what the ‘Other Revenue’ is in that last line
Looks like NSWRU will be left with 2.3m in cash and assets after the transfer of the Tahs to RA on Jan 1.
As at 31 Dec with the Tahs included their total equity was -700k, implying they have handed 3m in negative equity to RA but I don’t know that there aren’t future revenues not reflected here which now sit on RA’s sheet.
