It's time to be realistic on the ARC

anti-siphoning is a joke.
oh and btw the NRL has a “use it or lose it” clause with Ch 9 in Vic – they are just too gutless to enforce it.
Is the anti-siphoning list good for football?
Will it be spun as a massive success?
yes.
Will it actually work – big crowds, sustainable finances, good TV ratings?
very much doubt it.
I think they are very much underestimating our devotion to RL and soccer…. and also the migrant urge to associate with their area – by adopting a game they can talk about to the locals… which isn’t AFL.
Will the AFL's ambitious expansion plans work?
… and most “giant” sydneysiders wouldn’t follow victorian rules either.
to reflect their bound to be miniscule supporter base, maybe they should have called them the GWS Expat-Victorians…..
or their junior base, the GWS Mum-Made-Me-Play-This-es…..

…. not in NSW.
In NSW the Blues are the state of origin team, end of story.

Giants isn’t an Australian name, sure…. but Wolves?
Not exactly an Australian animal – I don’t think we even have Wolves here.
Should have called them the West Sydney Celtics – plenty of Irish in Oz, and they do play bastardised Gaelic football, after all….

I got a laugh.
He will still get a maroon jersey though.
Pride of Bowraville, QLD.
What exactly is it that makes Greg Inglis happy?
why? he hasn’t got a criminal record. I don’t think they knock you back for having poor taste.
Monaghan released by Raiders
After having played his first senior game of footy for Hunter Sports High in Newcastle.
There is no freaking way he is even remotely a QLDer.
Inglis has nobody to blame but himself
red with a bit of blue makes maroon.
its a true story, regardless.
Well done Roar, just change your shirt
Why is everyone who isn’t a Novocastrian so keen to remind us that we come from pit towns? Is it about putting us in our place or something?
About as relevant as saying that Sydney should play in a convict inspired strip, or the Roar should wear banana yellow.
We are red and blue.
PS – just for Andy, Newcastle’s civic colours are emerald and cinnamon.
Well done Roar, just change your shirt
Newcastle’s sporting colours are red and blue. With the new ownership, it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Jets revert back to them.
Well done Roar, just change your shirt
Virginia Tech Hokies (College Football) wear maroon, orange and white – and pull it off very well…. so it can be done.

And for the record, the Broncos were going to wear Red and Blue, because mixed together they make maroon – but had to change their plans when the Knights secured those colours first.

Probably not, seeing as they play a different sport. For the record, I don’t reckon they would make the Tall Blacks, Silver Ferns or Black Caps, either.
well, maybe the Black Caps.
Kangaroos must lift against best ever Kiwi side
Congrats. Now if only facebook likes translated into real fans.
Exempt PNG players from the Salary Cap
I am a parochial Aussie, but to be honest I find it really hard to cheer for the Roos.
Kangaroos must lift against best ever Kiwi side
Agree with this – and would like to see it expanded to all the emerging nations – however it can’t be a 100% exemption. There needs to be some way of accounting for any first graders that come through – sure, exemption at lower grades, but this should only apply to the first NRL club that signs/develops them, and should be wound back as the player progresses.
Aren’t there working visa problems for workers from places like PNG and Fiji as well? I seem to remember something about QLD cup teams being keen on signing PNG players but being unable to because of visa problems.
Exempt PNG players from the Salary Cap
What a BS article.
The Storm recruited the best young players in the land via Peter “offer ’em double” Sullivan.
Their rorting is precisely what allowed them to assemble this squad.
To call the Storm “victims” in any way is an insult to the teams who play by the rules.
Salary cap only encourages mediocrity
soccer and rugby? it sits somewhere between cross country and netball, maybe.
Surprise, surprise! AFL gaining traction in UK
