And the NSW clubs were like sappers bringing them both down

COMMENT: Australian rugby is a depressing picture - the RA board must be axed and the constitution changed

I always get twitchy when I start reading about the people who know how to run rugby. It feels as though the clubs are trying to assert control again.

I agree with an independent board but it needs to be completely independent and not just one faction taking control from another faction.

This makes some good points but the comments around Foxtel make it feel like SOARR are looking back to the good ole days rather than forward

Hasn’t helped most of our hookers are as accurate as a Saddam scud missile

Five things we learned: One area Gordon must fix to convince Wallabies boss, ABs bruiser should be on notice

Izaak Rodda 2.0????

His form has been formidable this season.

Or Leroy Houston or Ned Flanigan or Gleeson.

The list goes on of players especially backrows blooded too early

Gleeson was the 21 version of Cale. Only finding his feet again now.

Five things we learned: One area Gordon must fix to convince Wallabies boss, ABs bruiser should be on notice

Can we please slow down with pushing players who show some promise at SR level as a Wallaby bolter.

Cale looks the goods. We have enough backrowers and No. 8s we don’t have to rush him through.

Another year. A full off season, eat a whole lot of roast chooks and hit the weights.

Then unleash him on the lions.

So many broken or under delivering players as we haven’t given them the chance to develop at the level below.

You have argued the leadership don’t have a clue but they have hired both. Thanks for showing the flaw in your rant

Exclusive: Herbert claims 'steady progress' in rebuilding trust as RA seeks to avert more board bloodshed at AGM

Lmao. Let’s change everything. Let’s sack the whole board. Let’s pull ourselves out of Super Rugby.

Let’s take what is left of the burning house and drop a nuclear bomb on it.

Or let’s actually take a breath and recognise what they have done.

Tj-GO. So your are not happy with the appointment of Schmidt and Horne and co? Have you read their resumes?

You want a canary. Nucifora should be it. He wouldn’t be coming back if it was the same crap shoot.

I can feel the spittle, the venom, the anger. I get it but if they have been this smart to date they may have picked some more people with the right skills.

And remember Hamish was a leader at Ten. What a success almost went broke and is now owned by Paramount.

As for the Twiggy comments. I agree but maybe he needs to drop the desire for retribution and focus on a way forward.

How can we trust who comes in?

Exclusive: Herbert claims 'steady progress' in rebuilding trust as RA seeks to avert more board bloodshed at AGM

Give them a year. See if the changes they have made and are making make the difference needed.

Spilling a whole board could lead to another 6 months worth of carnage we don’t need.

Joe and Horne seem to making the right choices and bringing in good talent.

That’s one tick for decisions made to date.

If they can clean up the rebels mess and sort out some type of cash injection with a third tier in the not to distant future then things are looking all right.

If in 12 months the boat is still lurching and leaking then it’s time for a spill.

Power lock – acquired.
Prop – Angus Bell
Midfield shuffle – no answer.

Play the deck in place and dont say we need just one more piece.

Rugby Australia kicks off review into Waratahs as pressure mounts on Coleman ahead of Brumbies clash

Great to see someone who is outside the system doing the review.
Great to see The recognition something needs to change.
And then you see the replacement coaches list.
Can we call in Bill Murray and Andy Mcdowell its Groundhog Day.
He has the respect of the players and some runs on the board at junior level, he should have the respect of the opposition. (gilmore)
He has done well with some junior teams, he screwed our defense systems and nothing screams “Super Rugby Head Coach”. (Grey)
He is like panadol, takes the edge off but doesnt fix the problem as he will do what is needed to win, last time he was in the position he left a dogs breakfast (Cheika).
Taking the same approach, promote with in, push someone past their experience or bring in the great white hope isnt going to work.
Or find someone who has worked in the systems we are implementing.

I think between RA and the Rebels the lawyers and guns are well and truly covered

'Curse the money all you want' but RA must work out what it wants from Super Rugby - otherwise the game is doomed

Western Sydney. You choked it, you ignored it, you suffer.

How many Topou like players have you missed

'What the hell's going on': Ex-Wallabies question 'losing' culture, pathways at Waratahs

Harry great article and synopsis of the situation at present.

I have been doing the research to write an article for a complete shake up of the system.

I just needed the numbers, most of which you have listed.

I believe we need PE. We dont go to market asking for money to sustain but for a new venture, da da dah, an NPC.

Its seed finance we need.

Think about it if the model is right. Players are paid in this order:

1. Their NRC club
2. Their state
3. Country

If a PE model was built around a 10 team licenced national team structure (we did it with NPC but it was destroyed by the NSW infighting) where Licenses are granted, teams are built and funded, then transitioned and sold based on the right gains, the PE firms earns some coin.

I hope that explains my thinking but its taking what you have said, hydrids from world sport and applying them here.

And to really throw the cat amongst the pigeons, if we had a NRC commisioner, Super Rugby Commissioner, every state equally represented and an equal nuimber of non-aligned business people on an RA board, imagine what would happen.

The ARU could focus on High Perfomance and driving it down to club level, wait they could even go to World Rugby and say enough of robbing talent you northern bastards lets set up a transfer market like the idiots who didnt realise you can be 130kg pick the ball up and run with it.

'Curse the money all you want' but RA must work out what it wants from Super Rugby - otherwise the game is doomed

It can handle drought but somehow still survive, looks pretty when it does bloom but that only happens once a decade,

And it has a mystical quality that seems to baffle people around how ordinarily it is.

Yep it’s perfect to represent NSW rugby

Five things we learnt: Why Cheika could be the man to resurrect Tahs, Thor is the new Quade, value of sevens

He would also demand a open slather budget, ultimate authority on decisions and no over sight.

What RA need another rogue coach milking funds for the greater good.

Five things we learnt: Why Cheika could be the man to resurrect Tahs, Thor is the new Quade, value of sevens

Hahahahahaha.

If that is your mindset bring him back..

Will give you something to focus on once the Coleman impact is gone, RA goes broke propping up the Tahs and the cheer squad goes silent.

Cheika is Eddie 2.1

Five things we learnt: Why Cheika could be the man to resurrect Tahs, Thor is the new Quade, value of sevens

Sorry Christy I actually thought this an 2nd April Fools article when you brought up Cheika returning, was he a Randwick boy.

Then I realised you were serious and even worse it was a pathway back to the Wallabies job.

I feel like a fool.

Five things we learnt: Why Cheika could be the man to resurrect Tahs, Thor is the new Quade, value of sevens

Eddie orders a whole sway of sports psychologists.
Joe goes for Warner.
At least this was announced on April Fools

EXCLUSIVE: Schmidt to appoint David Warner as Wallabies leadership consultant

I had blanked that out. Thank you Geoff

Sad part is when journos drink the Kool aid and don’t realise they are getting played

The Wrap: Good news and bad news for Rugby Australia as Brumbies and Rebels win local derbies

Great wrap as per usual Geoff. Watched Reds vs Brumbs game and he spent last 20m saying. We are going to regret the 5pts left on the field over and over.

Also thanks for a bit more insight into the Rebels situation. Always enlightening and balanced.

The Wrap: Good news and bad news for Rugby Australia as Brumbies and Rebels win local derbies

Having watched the Randwick vs Brothers game followed by the Reds I thought yep there is a big gap between SR and club rugby. Not in passion or even skill but in the execution.

Then I watched this and went nah, it’s not that big a gap at all with some teams

'Something's not working': Tahs' Good Friday turns into a nightmare as Rebels recruit Daugunu seals upset win

Its “Chicken Little” Doran at it again.

Izzy has had some great moments, so have Flook and Len.

I rate him and see his potential but is he lost or chasing some coin?

Is he gone or will he return with experience and a more consistent game.

THE SKY IS FALLING, THE SKY IS FALLING.

Wish you the best Izzy, you have potential and have shown glimpses, hopefully the consistency you lack will develop in the grind of the NH professional competitions.

Great article again Chicken Little
