I hate it. I would take the rumours any day

Transfer of power: The NRL’s contract rules are nonsense, but they somehow make sense for everyone involved

Unless the codes end, there will be this issue, no matter how much you mitigate it, There always be enough people who think playing the game is not worth any risk. These sports, probably all sports will end. Question is will it be in my lifetime.

Maybe down the track we will see a rejection of this idea of us needed to be protected from everything. One generation will rebel and change our course. Hopefully that is the next group of kids

Race to the bottom: Which football code can dive deepest into concussion black hole?

I personally hate the Nov 1 rule and having 12 months at one club before you go to another Is a terrible look for the game. I don’t buy the BS that players need 12 months to sort out where to live whilst playing for the new team. Over half the clubs are in one city and the players most likely to struggle to find a place to live, on the low end contracts are the ones that still move on a moments notice during the season when clubs drop them or are picked up by new clubs.
We need an off-season transfer window and that’s it. Maybe a two week mid season one for clubs and players to get out of unwanted situations.

I don’t think Hastings has been that influential at all. The turn around game when O’Brien admitted his mistake in trying to make Ponga a 5/8th. The question is did he make that choice or was it forced alone him.

Gamble has been the revelation along with Ponga at fullback. The turn around game with Gamble’s introduction. I could make an argument that Gamble and Walsh are the two most influential players this season as their teams turned the corner and became serious finals threats almost as soon as they joined their teams, in hindsight.

Knight fever: O’Brien owns up to mistakes to restore blue-collar ethic to Newcastle

It’s got the Poms flag on it! Of course it’s rubbish.

I guess that is why the Knights smashed the Dogs twice, Willie thought it was not worth watching film. Willie’s big response is “Well I played for Australia”.
Tyson telling Willie to get F’d is the second best thing this week in League.

Sweppo had a brilliant year. Was the best spinner in a full old school Shield season, bowling some Warnie type balls and out duelling Lyon as the best spinner in the country. Then he went into the national setup, then clearly mucked around with his technique and ball speed, dropped him in and out of the side and that was that, he is now starting again.

The glaring issue holding the Bulls back: Queensland 2023/24 squad preview

Sweppo is the first choice red ball spinner. There is no chance Kuhnemann gets first crack. Max Bryant has not solidified anything and is most likely not to be in the first team named.

The bowlers do their job. Jimmy P does his job. The batsmen have to step up. I would love to see Clayton really kick on this year. Marnus playing more games along with Usman might be a great thing for us but really Renners, Wildermuth and Monty Burns have to be the guys to step up and score consistently. Maybe I am not confident. Aryan Jain might step up this year but history says these young guns are all promise with little actual runs to show for that promise.

If we improve on the batting we can get back into the final.

I am not saying they are fake injuries and these game are Test Matches are they not. This shows to me just how far down playing for the Kangaroos is on the players list.

Latrell has sat out two Origin series now and Ponga one. These might be legitimate reasons to do so but once that box has been opened box has been opened you can’t close it again and the box is open enough now for clubs and players to take advantage. Over the next ten years I think we will see more and more players sitting out Origin for injuries that could be played through and we will see the same arguments you are putting forward now.

Have to disagree. Grant is a different type of player to Smith. More of a strike weapon out of dummy half.

Obviously he is very good at all the other roles of a modern hooker but he is no Smith when it comes to controlling the game. I do not think Melbourne has a player like that.

Storm lack impact in their pack - and mounting injury toll spells trouble for any hope of challenging for title

That is why it is always the excuse used, some are legit. But some are injuries that players played through all season but when Kangaroo selection comes up suddenly they can’t play through it anymore. It shows where the priorities are and why international football is where it is.

Now we are starting to see that in Origin

There is always and injury or off season surgery.

I am looking forward to Latrell being hailed again for missing rep games. Skipping on Kangaroo games has been a thing for a while but this has now been infecting Orgin for a couple of years.

You wouldn’t find a more passionate person than me on representing where you come from but I wouldn’t be signing the anthem. That is a bizaroo reason to not pick someone.

Storm are on the downward slide from Cam Smith’s retirement. He was a leader, a winner. One of the all time greats. The Storm don’t have that controlling, Marshalling player anymore. All their spine are strike players who look for moments to strike. I don’t think Hughes or Grant get that forward roll going nearly as well as they need too.

To me Storm have everything outside of a real organiser. Their talent and defence gets them over most teams but isn’t enough at the pointy end without a Smith or even a Cronk type player

Yes, it’s Gamble’s fault he got bit, the guy should get 6 weeks for forcing Wighton to bite him. The nervehow could he!! 😱 😱

We really need an eye roll emoy

I wasn’t worried about experience, there is plenty of Origin players there with senior players with finals experience.

That was the last major hurdle mentally.

Great defence from the Broncs finally, finally got us to beat the Storm. We needed it too as we were terrible with the ball. So many first tackle errors in our own 25. I don’t mind errors from pushing the pass but so many incorrect play the halls and drops on the first tackle. We won’t win anything if we keep that up

Reynolds drop out has to be up there as the greatest ever, vfinding touch at half way. So crucial.

Good luck on the rehab and any surgery Paps
