unfortunately, quite possible. He likes Uncle Wayne and would be a good pick up. Almost lost him to the ‘Phins a year or so ago.

Pretty simple round to tip, it seems. Main question for me is Cows v ‘Phins. Next close could be Tigers and Dogs, or Newcastle might be up for a game against the spluttering Warriors. Bronco v chook might be close but not in doubt IMO.

He does turn, I give you that. Might be enough for a line ball analysis. I’m just sooooo sick of forward passes getting by I’d be happy for refs to pull those up. Looks forward, call it.

I’m with you there. He had GF #8 in the bag (almost) until LM had a brain snap. Not sure about Wayne’s legendary man management forgiveness, but I wouldn’t be forgetting that in a hurry. LM is not a bankable skill source come end-of-year.
Arthur may be a very good coach, but he’s taken the Eels as far as he can. If they want the drought broken, he won’t do it. Not a guarantee that Uncle Wayne will, but he has a better chance AND he always usually attracts top talent. Parra don’t need a lot.
For me, that’s not a reason to dump a quality coach because there are no guarantees but I’m not the Parra board. I’d be waiting to hear from them if I were Wayne and given the press you’d think that might be soon.

Walkers did that fairly successfully, and I know it’s all about field position and territory but you can still kick it to why most players run to anyway and stop them before they run.

Slow train (still) coming: James Graham's 'unrealistic and naïve' take ignores realities of the modern world

I’m a bit tired of the kick-off debate. It’s reaching resounding proportions over something that is easily fixed for anyone with an issue or a bit of nous. Just don’t kick the freakin ball so far. It’s in the hands of the players and teams and coaches. Last round Dragoons lost a player at the kick off. if Flanno and the team are worried about it, kick the thing 30m or less and meet the ball catcher at virtually the same spot anyway but without him having space to wind up a head of steam.
We’re going to end up in a tag situation, where a guy who catches the kick runs until touched than it’s a play-the-ball. There’s your vanilla and safe option.

Bumbling Bunnies board, players, executives and Demetriou all deserve share of blame game after coach's demise

Wayne doesn’t take interference from Boards.

Bumbling Bunnies board, players, executives and Demetriou all deserve share of blame game after coach's demise

He had both Broncos and Souths within a moment of GF wins. He is a master at his craft and fingerprints all over the Dolphin’s success. He can sit back and let the rabble and $$ fight between Souths and Eels and take his pick. Watch the fans go wild whoever he picks, especially Eels…

I fully expected them to win last year. They won’t come close now for the next 4-5 years (unless Bennett returns). Good move Wighton…
I feel for JD, the person they should be sacking is the turkey that let Reynolds go. Especially looking at the decision logic, one issue being age and then they go and buy an older bloke in Wighton. Is there any possibility that Reynolds was offside with LM and Walker? Was there a ounce of an issue there when Big Sam spoke up?

Worth a thought.

Kick-off. Instead of changing the rule, teams can adjust their kicks. Walkers had great success kicking short and as my nan has identified, kick 20 or 30 m only, then the ball carrier has no chance to build up steam and can get smashed as soon as they catch it. If there is a problem with the kick-off, there is your solution. It isn’t a worry to the players if they keep kicking it deep.

NRL Round 8 Talking Points: The kick-off is on borrowed time, so what replaces it?

it’s not the vibe or what looks cool. It’s what is consistent and practical. The bunker microanalysis to find a mm of separation one day, that can’t be seen with the naked eye then allows a bulky 2nd row to leap into the in-goal, clearly (to the naked eye) lose the ball yet it’s a try. People get all excited that ‘hey, we got it right’ because a sliver of separation occurs yet a pass is thrown clearly forward and who cares.
The rule book is there, but to be adjudicated by the naked eye NOT micro analysis with cameras and slow mo.

NRL Round 8 Talking Points: The kick-off is on borrowed time, so what replaces it?

Ummm.. naa. He’s holding the ball with both hands at the back of the ball basically in front of his belly button and pushes the pass across his body hands behind the ball. At no time does he have the necessary hand position or arc to send the ball backwards out of the hands. The ball is projected forward. That’s what happened, but what matters is that the powers-to-be don’t care.

Another blatant forward pass try.

And this is why we should dump the bunker. If you are going to use tech to micro analyse and use millisecond frames to get the right call, then fine IF you are going to get it right all the time. But they don’t so we might as well live with ref errors, at least they aren’t time wasting or cost millions.
