If you want to find a verse to justify anything in a religious text you will find it. That’s the issue with allegory. No matter what faith you profess there will be someone who wants to/has already committed violence in its name, and will do so again

Saudi sportswashing plus a second IPL season adds up to bad news for cricket as we know it

Defeatist. Pure whataboutism. If everything is bad to some degree then there’s no point in trying to minimise harm. If that’s how you want to approach life that is only depressing

Duplicated from another article:
Toby Greene got a 6 match suspension (out of 22) for bumping an umpire while having a conversation. Tom Curran getting 4 matches (out of 14) for sprinting at an umpire and yelling at him seems fortunate in comparison. Different sports not withstanding.

'Didn't expect the stand-off': BBL Pom apologises to ump, 'deeply regrets' controversial incident as ban upheld

The way it’s phrased sounds like you have to get approval for a black armband. “Sorry you can’t wear a black armband for this match. That person is too distant from you to be worth memorialising.”

COMMENT: BBL Pom's disgraceful ump incident deserves bigger ban - and shame on Aussie icon for 'both-sidesing' it

I’m actually wondering if the producers told them one of them had to be devil’s advocate and she drew the short straw. Was such a messy defence

I’m looking forward to it. I think experimentation is fine with the fixturing. It’ll all come out in the wash.

Also the Swans moved to Sydney in 1982/3. So 13 or 14 years not 11

If the Matildas can draw sell-out crowds, why can't the A-League Men?

Yeah but I was refuting that it didn’t exist a decade ago. It was a niche event that took time before getting popular, not something that was founded and immediately had a huge market share.
