Yeah but I was refuting that it didn’t exist a decade ago. It was a niche event that took time before getting popular, not something that was founded and immediately had a huge market share.
Las Vegas gamble a high-risk, low-reward play by NRL … the US couldn’t care less about your funny little game
The UFC was founded almost 30 years ago. It built its audience very gradually before merging/buying a bunch of other promotions and becoming the big deal it is now

Hit wicket, obstructing the field and handled the ball aren’t “skill wickets”, should we never claim those? And surely throwing down the stumps with an instant throw wearing gloves from 15m away is skillful.

I find it funny that we had such a terrible trade period last year and yet we went from a bottom four team to finishing in the final four. Shows the game isn’t played on paper I guess
AFL Trade Period power rankings: Super Swans, Docker shocker, and the best deal in Gold Coast's history
It’s almost as if World Cups are really hard to win.
Just when you thought South Africa weren't going to choke at a World Cup ... Dutch deliver epic upset for the ages
They won in 2012 with Reid and Goodes as their key forwards and Lewis Jetta as their leading goal scorer. Collingwood just won the flag with McStay as their key forward
The Swans have already won the trade period - and it's set them up perfectly for another crack at a flag
Hickey couldn’t get a game at West Coast but turned into a pretty handy pick up.

Tradition for tradition’s sake is the worst reasoning possible. It’s an absurd claim that if the Grand Final were played in another city then Melbourne would just stop paying attention. And if that were true that just proves they need to not have a monopoly on it any more.
Also the reason why there isn’t a stadium big enough to hold it outside Melbourne is because it’s always held in Melbourne. You don’t build something to host an event you can’t hold.
AFL Grand Final day is much more than just the game - why change something so important to our sporting culture?

After years of blowouts and shockers, do we finally have an AFL Grand Final worth watching?
There are 82 games in a NBA season.
Blinky Bill was a reference to Space Jam. I figured an AFL version should have an Australian animated character
AFL News: 'Blatant manipulation' - Coaches angry as Roos get draft boost, Lions star pushes through Payne barrier
Are you saying you don’t want to watch the Dockers 82 times in a year? Or that you don’t wish Pavlich had a crossover with Blinky Bill?
AFL News: 'Blatant manipulation' - Coaches angry as Roos get draft boost, Lions star pushes through Payne barrier
Particularly bizarre to be giving the Roos extra picks next year. If they end up winning say 8 games will the league tell them they don’t get them anymore because they clearly don’t need help?

Why build a stadium to hold an event that’s contractually bound to a particular venue for as long as the lifespan of any venue built now?
Grand final ticketing fiasco doesn't make top-tier Pies fans whingeing about low-quality seats okay
Yeah I can imagine that very easily. Do you not have a very good imagination?

Why every team will win their AFL preliminary final... and why they'll lose
I (and my heart) would much prefer a 60 point win over the Pies.
Why every team will win their AFL preliminary final... and why they'll lose
Nope. One each. They played each other twice in the finals of 05 and 06
Why every team will win their AFL preliminary final... and why they'll lose
Port v Brisbane in 04; Eagles v Swans in 05 and 06.
Why every team will win their AFL preliminary final... and why they'll lose
That’s weird cause there was only 2 of them
Why every team will win their AFL preliminary final... and why they'll lose
Is that a mystery? National teams always get bigger crowds than domestic games. Look at the Wallabies compared to super Rugby, the national cricket team compared to the Sheffield shield.
If the Matildas can draw sell-out crowds, why can't the A-League Men?
