Week five NFL picks

Last week we hit 73 percent of our tips, and we are looking to go flawless in week five of the NFL season.

The ‘*’ symbol will represent a pick I am sure of from here on out.

Last week: 11-4

Overall: 40-21

Buffalo Bills at Cleveland Browns
Both the Browns and Bills are in good form, but the Browns’ form is fake. Brian Hoyer isn’t the answer at quarterback, and as outsiders the Bills will take this one away from home on the back of an opportunistic defence that intercepted the Super Bowl MVP five times.

First touchdown: Fred Jackson*

Final score: 23 – 13 Bills

New England Patriots at Cincinnati Bengals
This game is an easy one to me. Even though the Patriots have risen to 4-0, they haven’t looked amazing in doing so. The Bengals are fresh from a loss in Cleveland. This makes me crazy, yeah? The Bengals match-up well with the Pats, and they take this one. Ridley bounces back, but so does Dalton.

First touchdown: Steven Ridley

Final score: 27 – 18 Bengals

Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins are overrated and the Ravens are underrated this season. The Dolphins fall to their second straight loss and Flacco dramatically improves, even in Miami, thanks to Ray Rice who will finally be handed the ball.

First touchdown: Ray Rice

Final score: 20 – 16 Ravens

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers
The Lions have cruised to a 3-1 record, recording a win over the Bears last week. The Packers timely bye will help them win this, and Aaron Rodgers will torch thee Detroit secondary. Megatron racks up 200 yards, but it isn’t enough.

First touchdown: Jordy Nelson

Final score: 47 – 32 Packers

Seattle Seahawks at Indianapolis Colts
The Seahawks day has come, they will head home from Indy imperfect. Andy Luck, Trent Richardson and the Colts will be too much for the Seahawks, in a defensive battle that will come down to a vintage Luck drive.

First touchdown: Marshawn Lynch*

Final score: 17 – 10 Colts

New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears
Another perfect team falters here. The Bears defence matches up perfectly with Drew Brees and the Saints. Brees is a gun slinger who threw the most interceptions in the league last year, though he was often throwing a lot. He throw two picks in this one, while Cutler, Marshall and Forte all have field days. Darren Sproles will have a field day catching the ball too, but it won’t be enough.

First touchdown: Matt Forte*

Final score: 30 – 21 Bears*

Philadelphia Eagles at New Giants
Chip Kelly and LeSean McCoy bury the Giants at 0-5 in their house. Who would have thought. Justin Tuck and Antrel Rolle need to shut their mouths because their defence is one of the worst in the league, and creating controversy isn’t helping the team at all.

First touchdown: LeSean McCoy*

Final score: 32 – 13 Eagles

Kansas City Chiefs at Tennessee Titans
The Chiefs are a good squad this year, but they aren’t 5-0 good. They get the nod here because Ryan Fitzpatrick will replace Jake Locker as quarterback and that is good news for the new and improved Kansas defence. Jamal Charles will be forced to run the ball a lot, and that isn’t a bad thing.

First touchdown: Jamal Charles

Final score: 20 – 10 Chiefs

Jacksonville Jaguars at St Louis Rams
The Rams are better than they have shown thus far, and this is the game that Tavon Austin shows what he can do. Even Maurice Jones-Drew has under-performed for the Jags, and the Rams will easily take this game.

First touchdown: Tavon Austin

Final score: 27 – 6 Rams

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals
Patrick Peterson will have a day to remember against the loose canon that is Cam Newton. I think the Panthers get up based on a good pass rush against the cardinals offensive ‘line’.

First touchdown: Larry Fitzgerald

Final score: 17 – 16 Panthers

Denver Broncos at Dallas Cowboys
There are warning signs all over this game, but I can’t bring myself to pick against the mighty Broncos. Peyton puts up some huge numbers again on the way to a historical season. Romo can’t get it done.

First touchdown: Demaryius Thomas*

Final score: 27 – 13 Broncos

Houston Texans at San Francisco 49ers

Both teams are under-performing, and the home team takes this by default. Kaepernick gets back on track, and Schaub falls further,

First touchdown: Frank Gore

Final score: 24 – 19 49ers

San Diego Chargers at Oakland Raiders
The Chargers shouldn’t let the Raiders beat them, but they do. Terrelle Pryor runs all over them. Rivers falls back down to earth in this game.

First touchdown: Darren McFadden

Final score: 23 – 16 Raiders

New York Jets at Atlanta Falcons
Upset alert. I hate to admit it, but I really think the team I initially thought was the worst in the league will top the team I thought was the best, in an away game.

Wow. The Jets defence can neutralise anyone, and the Falcons offensive line won’t cope.

First touchdown: Bilal Powell

Final score: 16 – 13 Jets
