Likely Australia’s greatest ever horse, Winx, will be looking to go out a champion when she contests her final race at the 2019 Queen Elizabeth Stakes. This is The Roar’s complete guide to the race start time, field and date so that you won’t miss a moment of the action.
The 2019 Queen Elizabeth Stakes will get underway at the Randwick Racecourse on Saturday, April 13 at 3:05pm (AEDT), with the race set to be run over a distance of 2000 metres.
Winx has won 32 straight races throughout what has been a glittering career, and despite some jitters in a trackwork run on Thursday morning, is still red-hot favourite to go out as Australia’s greatest ever, with 33 straight victories.
The champion mare is also going for a third-straight Queen Elizabeth Stakes. It’s a feat only achieved by two other horses in history, with the last coming in the early 1920s by a horse named David.
Winx is paying just $1.06 to take out the victory ahead of what is a relatively small field for one of Australia’s biggest races. The closest rival to the supersar is paying over $20 according to most bookmakers, and the chance of the mare going down in her final race seems, according to most punters, essentially none.
