Game 3 of the 2019 State of Origin series is set to be played at ANZ Stadium in Sydney. Here is the weather forecast for Sydney on the all-important match day.

After plenty of rain falling over the New South Wales capital over the weekend and into Monday morning, we should be in for a glorious evening tonight – albeit a cold one – after the weather forecast flipped on its head.

While the odd shower was hanging around on Monday, the surface at ANZ Stadium would have begun to dry out thanks to mainly sunny conditions.

Even though winter doesn’t provide the best drying conditions, and the wind hasn’t been overly high, the rain stopped early enough that we should get a reasonably dry track underfoot, at least early in the game. A free-flowing, open sort of game is the likely result.

As of 3pm Tuesday (AEST), the forecast for Wednesday reads for a top of 17 degrees and fine, with just a five per cent chance of rain and no wind speed worth mentioning. Temperature at kick-off will have dropped to a very cool 10 degrees.

The only factor which may play havoc on the game is the dew factor, which always has a say in games to be played in Sydney during winter.

The temperature, which doesn’t get above 20 degrees during the day, is likely to result in the ground becoming damp and the ball slippery by the time halftime rolls around, by which point the sun will have been set for around four hours.
