The 2020 Melbourne Cup has been run and won, and we’re sure you’ll want to know how your bets went.

Luckily, rain didn’t affect this year’s running after the previous two years were run on soft tracks. Flemington was rated a Good 4 coming into the day and was upgraded to a Good 3 before the race began.

It was a huge upset in the end, with Twilight Payment leading all day and holding off a furious late rally from Tiger Moth to win despite paying roughly $27 to win with most bookies.

Tiger Moth, the hot favourite, finished second, while last year’s runner-up Prince of Arran placed third.

The trifecta and quinella best are notoriously hard to get right. The quinella requires punters to name the top two horses correctly – in any order – while a successful trifecta requires all three finishers being picked in the correct order.

First: Twilight Payment
Second: Tiger Moth
Third: Prince of Arran

Here are the winning quinella and winning trifecta bets.
