Anthony Van Dyck finished last in the 2020 Melbourne Cup, after appearing to pull up lame halfway through and failing to run the full 3200m distance.

Unfortunately, it has since emerged that the horse suffered a broken left fetlock coming around the final turn and had to be euthanised.

Twilight Payment took out the race in a huge upset, with hot favourite Tiger Moth finishing second and perennial bridesmaid Prince of Arran finishing third.
