Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with my attention at Redcliffe and Ballarat. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.
Best bet: Race One Number 1 Misstrepo
Short but sweet to start the meeting. Former Victorian who debuted for the new camp last week at Albion Park.
Just did that little bit too much work early to lead, which left her gassed when she had to fend off the challenges out wide. Depth nowhere near as strong here – she should lead and should win.
Next best: Race Two Number 4 Elie Jay
Marburg form can be taken with a grain of salt, but despite this mare being a last start winner there, her form prior, including at this track, just reads too well for this bunch.
Sharp wins here four back and six back to go with her dominant display at Marburg last time. She’s clearly the one to beat.
Value: Race Four Number 7 Joy To All
I am hoping Chili Rocks can hold the lead and with that, this filly can land box seat and get every chance to blouse via the sprint lane.
She wasn’t too bad in defeat here last time out, which was last Friday, so interesting to see where she gets to in the run. Hoping leaders back, three back at worst, and 1×3 at a price, she’s worth a speck.
Best bet: Race Three Number 3 Beach Villa
Good field here with good depth, but this guy looks a potential star.
Debuted in the Sapling at Melton when showing brilliant toe from the mobile to lead the field up, and from there, it was just arrogance from the outset, leading throughout and he was dominant. Harder here, but he looks really good.
Next Best: Race Four Number 4 Petillante
This looks the strongest of the two two-year-old Filly Heats for the meeting.
This girl was an impressive debut winner at Melton. Had the 1/1 sit in the run before easing wider and although she took a while to get going, once she did, she let down like a really good filly and won well.
She’s the bet in a competitive race.
Value: Race One Number 1 Lochinvar Ruler
Formerly with Darren Binskin, this guy finds himself with David Moran and we know this stable are elite when it comes these Series formats.
Overall, this isn’t a strong heat and with the youngster now with Moran, banking on him getting improvement out of this horse and 1×3 at odds, happy to play.
