There are two meetings to look at on Saturday night, with my focus at Albion Park and Menangle.

Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 7, Number 1, Krug
It won’t be easy for a three-year-old to beat the older horses at Group 1 level, but this Kiwi is an excitement machine and does get Blair Orange to steer, who is the best driver in NZ. It will be fascinating to see what he does from the pole, but he’ll lead and it’ll take a star effort to get past him.

Next best: Race 4, Number 1, Our Princess Tiffany
I’ll bank on her class getting her home despite being first up. This horse is a star mare for the Braun camp that resumes and she is an absolute bomb when produced fresh. She is even more of a bomb when she leads, and drawn the pole, that will be the case, so I’m confident she can resume a winner.

Value: Race 5, Number 8, Fond Memories
The Dixon camp has this mare absolutely flying and despite a class and depth rise, she is worth a 1×3 speck at odds. She should get a soft run, whether it be leaders back or three back at worst. This horse was an impressive winner here last Friday, which followed a good effort at listed level at Redcliffe. She’s in with a shout if things fall into place.

Best bet: Race 5, Number 8, Tough Monarch
He is one of the best trotters in Australia, so he should be beating this field up. This horse resumed here last Saturday when a short-priced elect. This horse showed gate speed from seven to lead and once he found the front, it was race over. This horse should find the front again and with upside, he just wins.

Next best: Race 6, Number 3, Island Fire Dance
This horse is a quality filly who should make it two from two this time in. The first-up win came here last Saturday when she led from Gate 7 and didn’t give her rivals a look in, clocking a 1.52.3 mile rate with something in hand. This horse should lead these comfortably and it should be a painless watch.

Value: Race 2, Number 1, He Bettor Step Aside
If he can hold a forward spot from the pole, he could be dangerous at a price. This horse did win at this track five starts ago and since, he has raced pretty well without winning. This horse hasn’t really been helped by gates in recent runs but that all changes here, so you can back him each way.
