Opinion
It’s carnival time and wouldn’t you know, the rains are in.
It’s bucketed down in Sydney town for most of the week, heavy track it is. Let’s hope the track isn’t a complete lottery.
I am going for four straight with my best bet this week, and I’ve landed on a little swimmer in the feature.
Best bet: Race 7 – 9 Colette (three units at $4)
I backed Colette first-up in the Apollo on dry. She was good chasing Think It Over there. The Randwick mile is perfect and the wetter the better. She thrives in the going.
She’s good enough these days at this level on dry. She might be unstoppable in the slop.
Sydney racing selections
Race 1: 9 Miss Kingston – one unit at $16
Race 2: 10 Mayrose – two units at $2.40
Race 3: 5 Troach – one unit at $26
Race 4: 1 El Padrino – one unit at $6.50
Race 5: 2 Ellsberg – one unit at $2
Race 6: 8 Icebath – three units at $2.20
Race 7: 9 Colette – three units at 3.80
Race 8: 3 Fangirl – two units at $4.40
Race 9: 10 Easy Campese – one unit at $12
Race 10: 7 Soami – one unit at $41
And considering I’m heading to Caulfield for their big day, here are my thoughts on the three Group 1s down south.
Melbourne racing selections
Race 6: 3 Mo’unga – one unit at $5
Race 7: 14 English Riviera – one unit at $18
Race 8: 5 Marabi – one unit at $3
What a day! Good luck and stay dry punters.
