One of the more bizarre tests in recent times the Newcastle one – must’ve felt like a home game for Scotland. A shame they haven’t been back there for a test considering it was an absolute freak weather occurrence.
Scotland walking the 500 miles to respectability
Yeah likewise think England will win although probably won’t be as one-sided as last years game.
Scotland walking the 500 miles to respectability
That sounds incredible mate! Would love to know the details, although I understand you might not want to divulge for fear of getting arrested/legal issues (circa ’95 Primal Scream not exactly clean, wholesome dudes!)
Scotland walking the 500 miles to respectability
Great article – good to see the respect so many of them show for each other. One suspects if the Lions didn’t exist there would be a lot less of that amongst the home nations.
England vs Wales is poetry in motion
To be fair I think there is a fair amount of piss-taking in a lot of his comments these days – the smirk and smile is more prevalent, much like as the others above have said similar to Mourinho circa 2004-2007.
Whereas when he was Wallabies coach he was a lot more stern and abrasive, and the knowing nod and wink was absent.
England vs Wales is poetry in motion
Nick Bishop posted yesterday what a full-strength Welsh backline would look like including subs – scary stuff!
England vs Wales is poetry in motion
Love Eddie in the presser just casually reminding him he’s the 3rd choice fly-half – this is the type of fixture that deserves football-style fireworks in the media.
England vs Wales is poetry in motion
Yeah his parents were Scottish and I know he’s obsessed with Celtic Football Club but definitely thought he was London born and bred.
England vs Wales is poetry in motion
FYI hoping this one might be re-posted, as it has been altered quite a bit from what I submitted.

If they could unleash that backline I would start digging around for long lost Welsh heritage to get on the bandwagon!
Warren Gatland has finally learnt to get out of the way – will Michael Cheika take note?
The way Liam Williams (a greyhound compared to most test rugby players) played on that 2016 tour may have started the shift as he was absolutely sensational in those tests, and during the Lions tour last year a lot of the NZ press and experts kept talking about how dangerous he would be, based on the ’16 form.
Seems like a perfect storm of the injuries forcing Gatlands hand in to picking Scarlets players en masse, but the confidence those players have from their awesome form and playing style under Wayne Pivac made the step up a whole lot easier.
I feel like even Warren enjoyed having fresh and enthusiastic faces around camp, and the England backs won’t enjoy the sight of George North coming off the bench in the last 20 this Saturday.

Bloody hell Scotland did not show up to the races at all – looked absolutely petrified right from kick-off, and Wales duly took advantage with a great performance. Fantastic first day!
The warm embrace of the Six Nations
Yes mate stopped in there 4 years ago whilst on the way up to Giants Causeway (via the Bushmills distillery). Beautiful part of the world and some of the best scenery I’ve ever seen and best people I’ve ever met.
The warm embrace of the Six Nations
Halfpenny the exception, an extremely different Welsh backline to recent years. Big fan of Steff Evans though, and I feel picking so many Scarlets in the team will help them immensely.
The warm embrace of the Six Nations
Too right mate – for too long they have been in the doldrums and the rugby romantic in me wants them to win it, as England, Wales and Ireland have all had their glorious moments in the Six Nations sun this century.
Didn’t even get to mention Finn Russell – when he is on fire the Scottish backline is as breathtaking as the All Blacks.
The warm embrace of the Six Nations
Living and playing rugby in Ireland/Northern Ireland would be great for the soul and mentally refreshing. Beautiful island full of the funniest people you’ll ever come across.

Wales by the length of the straight for me. And although it’s not an anthem and the lyrics are pretty cheesy, Ireland’s Call gets me quite pumped up.
France tipped to win battle of the Six Nations anthems
He’ll be loved even more after Leinster’s 55-19 shellacking of an (albeit weakened) Glasgow on the weekend. Would love to see Fardy win the European Cup.
Scott Fardy on fire in Eire
Was always partial to the Chargers era – seem to remember some decent crowds in ’97 when they made the finals with Martie Bella leading them.
Is it time for a Titans rebrand?
Mega keen to see how the Reds and Rebels perform under Thorn and Wessels, although plenty of 6 Nations to devour before SR starts.
Senior changes a reason for optimism in Australian rugby
Very quiet time of year for Rugby so haven’t been on as much recently, but this is a cracking read – am absolutely fascinated by the drama and politics surrounding the Boks first few tests after they were allowed to play again. Absolutely adore the 91-95 era of just pre-professional Rugby as well.
