Well they let Blake Green go to Canterbury so they are looking for a replacement

True but that’s the risk isn’t it. But if it meant moving on Norman a year early it might be worth the risk. Also I don’t think it’s a no coincidence that Hunt’s form has dropped since Norman has arrived.

From what I know he was released from the bubble when Sullivan was brought in. Sailor is off contract & looking elsewhere for a gig with more playing time. It’s a shame but you can’t blame him. Being stuck behind Norman must be frustrating given that Norman is a automatic pick every week.

Have a look at the comments above about Norman staying behind after the game on Sunday to meet with Adam O’Brien.

Sure, but if we got 15-16 games out of him for $350-$400k I think that’s pretty good value.

Also who’d you prefer mentoring Sullivan, Foran or Norman?

The tepid attitude the team has at the moment is due to lazy players like Norman setting a bad example.

Say what you what want about Foran but he is a professional.

I know he’s a grub but desperate times call for desperate measures. We need to toughen up & get some respect back

For Dragons fans, 2021 can't come soon enough

Foran is available. He’d be half the price & twice the player Norman is & would be a good mentor to Jayden Sullivan

From what I’ve seen of him on YouTube he’s pretty quick over 100 meters

When you think about it Hunt & McInnes are both most effective at 9. McInnes for all his courage is too small to play 13 & Hunt just isn’t that good at 7 Clune has played much better there.

McInnes & Hunt don’t fit into the same team together. They can’t both play 9 I’ve got a feeling McInnes might be released to free up some cap space & end the debate Hunt is our long term 9

Just heard a nice rumour. Apparently Corey Norman met with Adam O’Brien after the game on Sunday. Newcastle are looking for a 5/8

But the guy that played 5/8 for Newcastle went pretty well from what I saw.

When you see how Marshmallow soft our central defence has become, obviously coaching is an issue but we desperately miss de Belin or at least a mobile big body at 13.

I was hoping Trent Merrin would be a solution but for one reason or another he never got going.

I know McGuire isn’t a popular choice on here but I think he’d be a short term fix to our problem & Lawrie, Ford, Ellis etc might learn to toughen up a bit.

How quick was Ramsey down the sideline. Nice inside pass to Norman as well. Not perfect but good for a Rookie

I thing the Cows are looking to free up some cap space. I suspect either McGuire or Asiata will end up signing with us. I don’t think the Cows can afford to keep both.

Hunt was the biggest disappointment to me on Sunday. He had the chance to show everyone he deserves to be playing at 7. Maybe he was carrying an injury but he was very passive in attack. & defended mostly at right centre.

I just hope we get through the Melbourne game without any serious injuries to key players then we can all move on to the rumour mill for 2021 player signings.

He’s had a bad year with injury but I’m expecting a better year from him in 2021

Gordon Tallis would do I think

For Dragons fans, 2021 can't come soon enough

I don’t watch a lot of Newcastle games so I haven’t seen much of Ponga, the way he plays the game he’s prone to head knocks & I think it’ll catch up with him

It’s up to senior players like Hunt, Norman & Vaughan to lift the side. Accept in our case it’s actually the younger guys Lomax, Ramsey & Dufty putting in extra effort.

There’s definitely something amiss in the dressing room & it’s beyond Dean Young to fix it.

Apart from a few players like Lomax, McInnes, T Sims etc I think all spots are open next year.

Yep 100% agree

My own team hasn’t had a very good year but the one thing that’s given me joy is watching the dogs & broncos battle it out for the wooden spoon.

P.S. Trent Barrett is not your saviour.

The Dogs of War mentality wasn’t intended for the board room

Thank you for your kind feedback

It’s the assistant coaches' turn on the merry-go-round

I agree with you, I was just illustrating Dean wanted the job so badly because he loves the club. That’s why he’s been kicking stones & decided so quickly to leave.

It’s the assistant coaches' turn on the merry-go-round

If you take the NFL as a comparison, they have a head coach but many layers of a supporting cast. Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, Offensive Line Coach, Defensive Line Coach & Quarter Back Coach

I’m sure I’m missing some. The Head Coach is like a General who issued orders to his officers & men. In the case the officers are the coordinators & coaches & the players are the men.

You’ve only got to look at Penrith’s huge turnaround in 2020 for the evidence of what the right assistant can do. With Barrett gone after this year Penrith will drop next year.

Dean Young now gone, certainly looking even more like a rebuild to me

NRL: Star fullback Matt Dufty is upset that assistant coach Shane Flanagan won’t be at the Dragons next season
SEPTEMBER 14, 2020 5:46PM
Matt LogueNCA NewsWire
St George Illawarra fullback Matt Dufty is disappointed that “influential” assistant Shane Flanagan won’t be at the club next season under new coach Anthony Griffin.
Flanagan has been moved along with fellow assistant James Shepherd as Griffin brings in his own coaches.
This has flattened Dufty who credited Flanagan and Shepherd, who led Cronulla to the 2016 premiership, for teaching him how to become a reliable NRL player this season which he started as the club‘s third choice fullback.
“I worked really hard in the pre-season and a big part of that has been Flanno and Shep,” Dufty said.
“They have taught me a lot about how to become a first grader consistently and I think that was what I was lacking in the past.
“I’d have a few good games and then have a few games off. Flanno has coached a team to the premiership and he knew what qualities I had to work on.
“He has been a very influential part of my year and I’ll be a bit upset if he leaves.”

The Dragons can’t make the finals, but the rise of rookie winger Cody Ramsey is a bright spark for the struggling club.
Ramsey scored a double on debut against Canberra last weekend, including a try with his first touch.
Dufty has no doubts that the rising back, dubbed – The Flying Plumber – is destined for a long NRL career.
“He (Cody) proved that he can play at the NRL level and he is only going to grow from here,” he said.
“He has been working hard and he deserved it on the weekend.
“Cody has been training hard behind the scenes. After the Nines he got injured and it has been a long road back.
“He is one of those kids that works hard and takes advice on board and really listens to what the coaches and other senior players have to say.
“That is the sign of a player that really wants to improve and grow.
“He is only just beginning, so it is exciting to see where it goes.”
Dufty can see the writing on the wall, with Ramsey & Schiller biting at his heels he’ll be squeezed out next year. If I were him I’d be asking Hook about a move to the halves. It’s Norman’s last year next year maybe he can find a home at 6
