Personally, I call it football but the US has shown that the sport can still be made credible regardless of what it’s called.
Why America's development is a blueprint for Australian football
Also, I disagree that the Dutch system suits up, they may have similar participation numbers but they are light years ahead of us in terms of training and youth development. Meanwhile, it could be argued that the MLS (who are also starting to produce decent homegrown managers), are only a few steps ahead.
Just seems a little more manageable and realistic
Why America's development is a blueprint for Australian football
Aside from the premiers plate and such I’m also basing my proposal on the fact that UK analysts have described the HAL as highly tough and physical

Of course NBA total attendance exceeds that of the MLS they play an 82 game season!
Why America's development is a blueprint for Australian football
You also have to consider that NBA’s average attendances are at a higher level despite having lower capacities. From what I can gather they’re mostly around 18k.

Why America's development is a blueprint for Australian football
Completely disagree. I think you’ll find that most football fans also have supportive links to either AFL or NRL.
Rebels without a cause: the bandwagon debate
Excellent point. We’re up there as one of the most supported leagues in Asia.
Attendances for this season:
Chinese Super League – 18571
J-League – 16659
A-League – 16191
K-League – 7918
Not bad considering how much smaller our population is dont you think?
Rebels without a cause: the bandwagon debate
‘Bandwagoners’ should not be judged on when they started watching the game, but upon how long they stay around

None of these players play at u19 level?
Australia’s young Socceroos: the best of the new bunch
Agreed, our team has let the fans down and were copping it severely as a result.
Victory vs Wanderers is the A-League's biggest rivalry
Great insight Arto, cheers for the support!
I was nine when Sydney FC was founded (a long time before my football awakening) and spent three years overseas so I won’t pretend to be an expert on the history of the club. In saying this, the issues I raised in the article seem to have been present from day one. I agree with your view that we could use the Bling FC tag to our advantage, namely by embracing the “latte sipper” stereotype, but that view must be used sparingly and sarcastically rather than reflect the way the club is run. Sydney is one of the biggest clubs, I agree, but it just seems that the clownish behaviour of the board has brought undue pressure upon the players, the coaches and clubs.
We can be a club with high expectations, if anything that will only boosts the clubs culture because its the way Sydneysiders are (no one can deny that!)
And as for the list you mentioned, I just find it unbelievable that we’ve had so many decent players. It goes to show that the players we’ve signed haven’t been so bad, but it’s the lack of a consistent structure or style of play that hinders them.
Why Sydney FC must change its ways
Top article Mary. Hopefully people get over this code war nonsense
Who do we sing for? Well, it's complicated...
Not playing youngsters unless there’s injuries, no wonder we play like Holger’s Australia!
Why Sydney FC must change its ways
They have the biggest catchment area in the league in terms of supporters so I agree the comp needs them! And I think you’re being a little harsh on janjetovic there, he’s no Buffon but he’s never disappointed us. Also, the fact that emerton is injured isn’t the problem, it’s the fact that he’s our marquee who’s had no impact whatsoever. Petkovic looks like one of the signings of the season, unfortunately it looks as though he’ll be carrying that defence because tiago is too slow, ryall is too gung ho and warren can’t get back in position after getting forward. I still think we’ll scrape into the finals by virtue of being better than 4 other clubs in the league, but next year there needs to be a massive turnover of players before we’re anywhere near competing for the title.

Top Article Wookie, great to know our home-bred game is going places!
25 years and AFL is still going strong in Ontario
Spot on Titus, Farina deserves respect for his career but unfortunately it looks as though he won’t be getting with the times any time soon.
Why Sydney FC must change its ways
When antonis comes back we could also give him a free role at ten and push ADP up the field, playing in a 4312…but that would also means playing 3 cms rather than two so there’d be no width
Why Sydney FC must change its ways
Edited same time as your reply ahah! Maybe Germany is a good model but the point of the article was mainly to advocate being Australian over basing it directly on a successful nation.
