Why bring up his past form ?
He is now fulfilling his promise which is great to see.
Let’s enjoy his career renaissance, good luck to him.

COMMENT: Can we please stop rewriting history about Mitch Marsh just because everyone loves him now?

The ball that got Babar was a cracker, great captains spell !

'Dream ball': Brilliant Cummins leads from the front but rival skipper wilts under pressure as Aussies take upper hand

Congratulations to the GOAT, 500 wickets is an incredible milestone. What a career. Very good alround performance from Australia. Just a shame there weren’t many in the stands.

Nice, Garry! Lyon joins legends with 500th Test wicket as Aussies rout Pakistan for massive win

Couldn’t agree more regarding South West Sydney being priority Number 1. It defies belief why they didn’t set up shop there in Year 1. One of the many many issues that exists at the Club is the romance of Leichhardt Oval. They are wedded and anchored to an archaic old ground which is not fit for purpose. The other major issue they have is the location of the high performance centre ? Being based in Concord is not the future. The whole operation should be in Campbelltown however that ship has sailed.
This Club could have been a juggernaut, instead they are a total shambles.

Welcome aboard, Richo and Barry - here's the big questions facing the new regime at the Wests Tigers

No reason why Cummins, Marsh and Zampa can’t back up at the next World Cup.

Australia’s 2027 World Cup mission starts now: The players title defence can be built around - only three incumbents to survive

Hard to criticise the Coach after winning the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup. Not many coaches have that on their resume. The Ashes was slightly disappointing not winning the series’s however to have the Urn in the cabinet with the other two trophies is a fair effort. He did a terrific job at the World Cup so kudos to him and his staff.

McDonald’s serving up humble pie to the critics but selfless coach refuses to dine out on World Cup glory

Brilliant article thanks Geoff.

ANALYSIS: McLennan's fatal blind spot, and why his exit leaves Australian rugby in a better place and a worse one

Great post mate, Cummins was outstanding in all facets. What was noticeable was his relaxed demeanour when the teams walked out. Himself and Marsh were smiling soaking up the occasion. Whilst Rohit and Co looked to have the weight of a Nation on their shoulders which they did. This is one of Australia’s finest sporting achievements lead by Cummins. This should silent the haters for some time if not permanently.
Great win Australia !

CHAMPIONS! Head's heroic ton, bowling brilliance sees Aussies crush India for SIXTH - and best - World Cup win

You beauty, what a sensational performance against a juggernaut of a team. The bowling and fielding set the tone and hats off to Head, a knock for the ages. This has to be the sweetest of all wins given the opposition and in there hostile backyard !

CHAMPIONS! Head's heroic ton, bowling brilliance sees Aussies crush India for SIXTH - and best - World Cup win

Good riddance McLennan, please slam the door shut on your way out.

'What a shame': McLennan GONE as Rugby Australia name World Cup-winner chairman to bookend wild year

This is outrageous, he is hijacking the game for his own self interest. Does he not have any dignity at all ?

'I won't back down': McLennan set to dig in as embattled RA chair calls on EGM to 'clear this up once and for all'

Plan B should entail a new Chairman that genuinely cares about the game, conducts himself / herself professionally with dignity, has the games best interest first and foremost without self interest, hubris, dictating and general grandstanding.
How much credit should McLennan really get for securing the 2027 and 2029 World Cups ?
I think it is generally acknowledged that the IRB were always going to award the World Cup to Australia in part to resuscitate the game here.
I agree with your point re O’Niell, he was the right guy at the helm when the game went professional and he oversaw a Golden era. However it was during that Golden era where they needed a visionary to expand the game before and post 2003. That was the games opportunity to take a huge leap and sadly it never happened. O’Niell didn’t have the appetite or vision to take the game to a new level.

Exclusive: Embattled chair asks for extension, Rugby Australia meet AGAIN as civil war breaks out

Even a guy as brazen and narcissistic as McLennan will know he has no choice but to walk. No one in the game trusts him.

Exclusive: Embattled chair asks for extension, Rugby Australia meet AGAIN as civil war breaks out

Good post Sheek, this is an experienced Aussie side that has 6 or 7 that have lifted this trophy. I’m sure India and their fans would have preferred to play the Proteas. India are solid favourites and rightly so which will suit Australia right down to the ground.

Which champion team is greatest in World Cup history? India one win away from rivalling best of all time

Harsh to get stuck into the Skipper, they got themselves into a big hole early which made it tough sledding from then on. The shot De Koch played was reckless and unnecessary. You could make a case that was the game right there. Add in very good bowling from the Aussies early on too.
The Proteas are a bit like the Irish Rugby Team, so much talent and can beat anyone, however when it comes to the pointy end of World Cups, they just can’t get over the final hurdle. It’s quite extraordinary they haven’t made / won a Final.

The Springboks' standard that Proteas ignored to their peril, risky Aussie call that came up trumps

Great knock Bison.
Regarding the bowling, other than Zampa it has been underwhelming all tournament. The wickets are roads but we don’t look threatening. Think we need to bat first against Proteas.

Marsh clubs century as Aussies surge into WC semis on seven-win streak despite 'Herschelle Gibbs 2.0' drama

Marky Mark would be great in the NRL.
Don’t blame him for having a chat to the Chooks. Hope he stays in the game however he has plenty of options.

NRL powerhouse target Wallabies young gun as replacement for Suaalii

Green in for Stoinis and Carey in for Inglis although the latter won’t happen. The reverse sweep by Stoinis the other night was ridiculous.

The Stoinis conundrum: All-rounder yet again failing to deliver as Australia keep tinkering to find best World Cup line-up

Plenty for the Aussies to work on ahead of the semi final. The shots Warner and in particular Stoinis got out to were very careless. Largely the batting and fielding has been good this tournament. The bowling has been patchy all be it on tough decks. Starc has been very poor. Is Inglis a better option than Carey ?. I’m not convinced.
Whilst India look formidable, anything can happen in knockout games. If Australia can bring it altogether when it matters, they’re a punchers chance. Outsiders to be sure but I wouldn’t write them off.

Six-win streak but problems abound: The tactical, selection and form issues Australia must fix before World Cup semis

Starc has been a magnificent One Day bowler for a decade. However he has been very poor at this World Cup. Unless he takes a few wickets next game and rediscovers some form he can’t play in the Semi Final. The Proteas will absolutely feast on his pies.

Starc raving bad: Pace spearhead’s worrying form slump jeopardises Australia’s World Cup hopes

A knock for the ages by Maxy, incredible stuff.
Kudos to Afghanistan who played superbly.

Glenn the Greatest - ever! Maxwell's magnificent double-ton rescues Aussies, stuns Afghanistan in WC epic

Thanks Geoff, will endeavour to get a read of it. I think all and sundry should be coming off the long run.

The Wrap: What will the Wallabies' external season review reveal that we don’t already know?

Thanks Geoff, let’s hope the Review is solely on the parlours state of the game. A review of season 2023 would be a complete waste of time and money. Every Rugby fan in the country has there own laundry list of items why and how everything went wrong. A season review is completely pointless.

What is alarming is the Chairman making petulant threats if he is to be removed. There is not a more disliked figure in the game here.
I have never come across an ARU / RA chairman as dictatorial and narcissistic as McLennan. A rebuild can NOT start until he is gone. He is holding the game hostage for his own self interest which is scandalous. He is a Boardroom bully but wouldn’t last 5 minutes in a Room full of Roarers. He would be rightly torn to shreds.

The Wrap: What will the Wallabies' external season review reveal that we don’t already know?

Interesting last paragraph stating England for much of the past 8 years have showed the World how to play White ball cricket. Assume that includes the two group stage exits in the 50 over form World Cups.
