The second season of the Gfinity Elite Series gets underway at 3pm (AEDT) today, with three matches of CS:GO action to kick the esports tournament off in style.

After a thrilling first season earlier this year saw plenty of surprises – including a monumental first-week upset – all eyes will be on the Hoyts Gfinity Esports Arena in Moore Park as the six teams get set to do battle once more.

The reigning premiers – Melbourne Order – are the first cabs off the rank, coming up against the Sydney Roar. The champions will have to be wary, however, as it’s the Roar who pulled off that stunning week one upset in June.

It’ll be interesting to see whether the world-renowned Order can keep the momentum up against season one’s surprise semi-finalists.

Next up, at 4:30pm, is Perth Ground Zero taking on the Sydney Chiefs.

The Chiefs will be bitterly disappointed with their grand final loss just four short months ago, while Ground Zero will be especially upset with how their season fell away so badly after a promising start.

Who will get their redemption tour off to a better start?

Lastly, at 6pm, is last year’s strugglers – the Brisbane Deceptors – kicking off their campaign against Melbourne Avant.

Avant had an up and down season in June, and will be keen to smash out a more consistent regular season this time around. The Deceptors looked like going winless, only to upset Perth in the very last week – can they carry this momentum forward?

It’s sure to be another entertaining opening to the Gfinity Elite Series. Join us from 3pm to keep track of all the CS:GO action.
