The first week of the Gfinity Elite Series‘ second season comes to a close, with the Street Fighter V competition getting underway at 4pm.

The personalities are always on show in Street Fighter, with the off-screen action between the eccentric characters often just as compelling as the insane combos taking place in game.

But it was Melbourne Order who walked the walk last season, taking out the club’s third title of the season in the grand finals in July. They open their second season against the Sydney Roar, who were only able to register a win in the season’s final week.

Anything is possible in Street Fighter, but it’s hard to see Order dropping this one.

Two finalists go head-to-head next up, with Perth Ground Zero and the Sydney Chiefs tangoing at 5pm.

Ground Zero were felled by Order in last season’s decider, while it was the Chiefs who fell to the black and red a week earlier in the semi-finals.

Both sides will fancy their chances of knocking the reigning titlists off their perch this season, so the result of this match will go a long way to deciding this year’s champions.

The Brisbane Deceptors will look to continue their end-of-season momentum when they open their campaign against Melbourne Avant at 6pm.

Avant rose to the top of the ladder last season, after an incredible run that saw them win four matches in a row 4-3. But their luck run out in the last week with an upset loss to the Roar, before they were bundled out of the finals by Perth.

Brisbane, on the other hand, had the complete opposite season. They looked hapless in the early going, before finishing off the season in style with two wins.

Can they continue that reversal into this season? Join us from 4pm to find out who gets their Street Fighter tournament off to a good start.
