Despite securing the services of Brian Daboll, the Giants have an uphill task within the NFC this season.

Strength

When looking statistically at the Giants last season, not one area of their game stood out as a strength. It is a statistical nightmare.

However, when projecting for the upcoming season, I like what they have at offensive tackle. Andrew Thomas was maligned in his first season but took a giant leap (pardon the pun) in year 2.

They paired Alabama prospect Evan Neal on the right side with the seventh overall pick in the draft and look to have their offensive tackles set for the future.

Weakness

Where do I begin?

I think the biggest weakness for the Giants is the way they turn the ball over. Turnovers are an absolute killer for offences and the Giants do it the most of anyone.

Last season, 16 per cent of their offensive drives ended in a turnover. They had 30 turnovers for the season, the most in the NFL and since Daniel Jones came into the NFL, he has recorded 65 turnovers (interceptions and fumbles lost) and only 50 touchdowns (passing and rushing).

Player to watch

Xavier McKinney is coming into his third season, and I think he can have a breakout season, announcing himself as one of the best safeties in the NFL.

With starting free-safety Logan Ryan gone, McKinney is the man now and he showed glimpses last season. He had five interceptions and made splash plays, but it is time for him to impact games more consistently.

Who’s under pressure?

I think this one is obvious, it’s Daniel Jones. The statistics that I have cited already prove this point and Jones is on the hottest of seats.

Having Brian Daboll, the man who worked closely with Josh Allen coming across to coach, this is his last chance. If Daboll can’t turn Jones’ career around, the Giants will be taking one of the top QB prospects in the 2023 draft.

Projection

It is hard to find a lot to get excited about this season for the New York Giants and I don’t hold much optimism for them at all.

I don’t believe in Daniel Jones as a starting quality QB, their defence has a lot of holes and despite drafting really well with Neal mentioned above and Kayvon Thibodeaux, the edge defender, I think it could be another year of pain for big blue.

Projection: 4-13.
