Destiny awaists in the Australian Open men’s final for Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas, with the winner to not only take the title, but the world No.1 ranking too. Join The Roar for game-by-game updates and rolling coverage from 7:30pm (AEDT).

Djokovic has been the heavy favourite to claim his tenth Australian Open title ever since demolishing Alex de Minaur in the fourth round on Monday night.

Since then, he has only gotten hotter, breezing into another decider with straight-sets wins over fifth seed Andrey Rublev and American surprise packet Tommy Paul in one-sided quarter- and semi-finals. He also has history on his side: Djokovic has a perfect 9-0 record in Australian Open finals.

Tsitsipas, though, has cause for confidence; he famously led Djokovic two sets to love in his only previous grand slam final, the 2021 French Open, before losing in five.

He too has been in excellent touch this Open, with his only major test a tough five-set win over Jannik Sinner in the fourth round. The third seed blew two match points and a chance to serve for a spot in the final in the third set of his semi-final to Karen Khachanov, but while he escaped those jitters, he can ill afford to be that nervous against the might of Djokovic.

Reigning world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz’s stint at the top is about to come to an end: but will it be the Greak freak, or the Serbian superstar, who takes his place?
