The Everest will be raced on Saturday, October 13 at 4:15pm (AEST), and will take place at the Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney. This is The Roar‘s complete guide to the race.

The Everest has fast become the pinnacle of the Sydney spring racing carnival and has overtaken the Melbourne Cup as Australia’s richest horse race.

While attention turns to Melbourne from next week, all eyes will be on Randwick this week with a total prize pool of $13 million on the line for the 12 entrants.

Limited to 12, the field also has six emergency runners in case of scratchings, with horses gaining entry to the event through slots being purchased and locked down.

Redzel is last year’s champion and will be back to defend the crown at The Everest in 2018 across a distance of 1200 metres.

Broadcast information

There will be two options if you want to watch the race on TV.

Channel Seven will be the best option, as they will be focusing heavily on all the build-up to the big race.

If you want to watch Sky Racing’s coverage, you can do so through Foxtel channel 518, however, you will need a valid Foxtel TV subscription if you want to do so.

If you’d prefer to stream the race online, you’re better off using the two TV streaming services.

Plus7 is Channel Seven’s streaming service, and that’ll be the app you’ll want to use if you’re keen on catching their coverage on the go.

If you’d rather stream Sky Racing’s coverage, you will need either the Foxtel App or Foxtel Now.

The App is for customers who already have a Foxtel TV subscription to Foxtel, whereas Now is a standalone service that allows you to stream the Foxtel channels.

The Roar will cover The Everest with both a live blog and highlights.
