Some excellent racing is on the cards for punters on Sunday, highlighted by cup days at Sale and Queanbeyan. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet 1: Win – Queanbeyan Race 6, number one: Coolring
He has to carry 64.5 kilograms, but he’s got lengths on these in terms of class and appears ready to go for his resumption on the home track. It’ll be his first look on the home track under race conditions, but he looked outstanding to my eye in a recent trial win here. He’ll likely get the sit off stablemate Lucy Rose and his class will come to the fore late, I hope.

Bet: $80 win (Tote)

Bet 2: Win – Port Macquarie Race 2, number seven: Wisama
She looks a good thing to my eye. Kris Lees trains this filly, which debuted on Cessnock Cup Day and was very good in defeat when beaten a lip by Adele’s Joy. She was down to run at Tamworth on Monday but has already been taken out, signalling intent, and this looks a rather thin maiden. She’s over her true odds.

Bet: $70 win at $2.80 (BetEasy)

Bet 3: Each-way – Port Macquarie Race 7, number 13: Camayoc
Sally Taylor has really turned this horse and his career around. He was forever known as a bludger and a non-winner, but she’s got him going really well, and I thought there was plenty to like about his resumption at Grafton when closing off well late behind Mackellar. He’s a second-up winner and has a liking for this track. He looks great value.

Bet: $15 each way at $26 to win, $6 to place (UBET)

Bet 4: Each-way – Sale Race 5, number three: Wassergeist
I’ve been on him in both runs this prep, but this is D-day as to whether or not he’s a contender or pretender. He didn’t have much luck first-up at Mornington before going to Pakenhan, where he looked to have his chance, but second-up I’m thinking and hoping condition gave out late. He should do no work from the inside draw and he gets his chance.

Bet: $25 each-way at $6 to win, $2.05 to place (BetEasy)

Bet 5: Each-way – Sale Race 7, number six: Liapari
I find him a fascinating runner. He was formerly with Chris Waller but now with Lisa Enright. This stable has an outstanding record with its first-up runners and this bloke certainly has the ability to beat them. I thought his Cranbourne trial looked quite good behind Savanna Amour, and a stack of gear changes tells me there is intent to run well.

Bet: $10 win at $35, $15 place at $8 (Sportsbet); $10 win, $15 place (Tote)
