Just the two meetings are set down for Monday at Tamworth and Benalla, but the depth looks pretty good. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One: Each Way, Tamworth Race One, Number 4 Cervinia
The $7.50 on offer is great value for this girl, who is trained by the in-form Damien Lane team. Ran over the mile at Wyong last time where she was on speed and fought on well when fourth to Watchdog. She’ll be much better on firmer footing and should lead these for fun. Each way, she’s a gamble at the price.

Bet: $15 Win/$25 Place at $7.5/$3 (BetEasy)

Bet Two: Win, Tamworth Race Four, Number 1 Magic Name
I think he’s the winner of this race. It’s been over a month between runs for the Angela Davies team since racing at Port Macquarie where he beat all bar Light Motion, a track specialist there. The break should do him the world of good and he should come over and get a good sit outside Akeed.

Bet: $40 Win (Tote)

Bet Three: Win, Tamworth Race Five, Number 1 Continuation
The SP profile cheerleaders will say no because he was $26 when debuting here but I thought his run was that of a coming maiden winner when second to the handy galloper Autumn Ridge. $26 compared to $2.80 now I’ll concede is a slight query, but there is no depth to this maiden and he has all the upside in the world.

Bet: $70 Win at $2.8 (Sportsbet)

Bet Four: Each Way, Tamworth Race Seven, Number 7 Sweet Missile
You can’t go wrong backing this girl each way. Colt Prosser trains her and she’s been a beauty since day one. There was merit in her last-start effort at Muswellbrook given she was wide on speed yet fought on well to run third to Ghibli, and that form does read well. Probably sits outside Social or gets cover. At double figures, she’s worth a ticket.

Bet: $15 E/W at $11/$3.2 (Bet365)

Bet Five: Win, Tamworth Race Three, Number 11 Our Sunny Girl
We’re getting black figures for a genuine $1.30-$1.40 chance – she’s surely got this race covered. It was her first crack at the mile last time at Pakenham and she worked home strongly, finishing a narrow third to Limeshow. That level of maiden is far superior to what she faces here and, barring bad luck, she should be winning.

Bet: $150 Win at $2.1 (BetEasy)

Total Spend: $310
