Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with my focus at Albion Park and Ballarat. Down below is best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park
Best Bet: Race Three Number 9 Press Statement

She has only won the one race, but she has got a fair amount of talent and despite the second row draw, I’m keen on her chances in what looks a thin contest. Tick over two weeks between runs since racing here when getting the suck run behind the speed and battled on well when second to a very nice horse in Uncle Shank. That reads well for this.

Next Best: Race One Number 4 Ballerini
Was on her back last week at Redcliffe but her chances were gone shortly after beginning with the filly galloping and losing all hope. She just didn’t handle the tight track. Better suited on the bigger track and the Picker camp rarely get it wrong when they send them to Queensland.

Value: Race Four Number 8 Rancho Man
1×3 for me at odds for this guy, who does have a second row draw but follows out a fast beginner, so potentially lands leaders back. Did a good job last Thursday at Redcliffe behind a smart juvenile, Misty Creek. If he is able to land leaders back, he’ll run a positive race at a price.

Ballarat
Best Bet: Race One Number 2 Queen Invasion

Kicking the program off with a good thing in my eyes with this filly, a Chris Lang trotter that resumes. Showed good promise in her first prep in some good races. Trialled up super in readiness for her return and provided she does everything right re manners, she’ll prove too good.

Next Best: Race Three Number 3 Onwatch
Bursting to win his maiden and he gets a golden chance. Has sat off the speed his past couple and has found the line with real purpose on both occasions. Drawn well this time around, he has gate speed, so think he finds the front and should that eventuate, he’ll be winning.

Value: Race Six Number 8 Searover
Reckon this six year old is in with a shout at a price. He hasn’t really had much luck with barriers in recent runs, but this time around follows out the likely leader, so could potentially land leaders back. His recent efforts have been more than sound so if he gets the soft trip and luck in the straight, he can threaten at odds.
