Two meetings to look at on Wednesday night, with my attention at Bathurst and Redcliffe.

Bathurst

Best bet: Race 1, Number 6: Lyrical Genius
The clear class runner of the field should resume with a win. Amanda Turnbull trains and drives for the return in what is a thin race compared to his runs last prep, with his latest outing coming at Group l level at this track. Should find the front and prove hard to get past.

Next best: Race 2, Number 2: Miss Lemon
Bit plain last start but back at Bathurst, confident this filly can bounce back. That last start came at Parkes where she was tardy from the mobile and pretty much threw away any chance of winning. Prior start, she bolted up there, and off that outing, she’s clearly the one to beat here.

Value: Race 3, Number 1: Surfing Clear
Sweet Heaven should be winning but 1×3 at odds, I can entertain this gelding. Surfing Clear has had little luck with gates in recent runs, but comes up with the coveted pole draw, so should be able to land the spot behind Sweet Heaven, who should lead, and be a near good thing to run top three.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race 3, Number 2: Chanceless Century
It has been a fair while since this gelding has drawn the front row and been able to lead. That changes here because he draws gate two and, for mine, leads for run. Last few outings, he has drawn the second and had to come from off the speed. He does his best when in front, that should eventuate here.

Next best: Race 10, Number 4: Harley Blue
She’s a maiden but that will change here. Shawn Grimsey trains this filly, who comes into this with strong form behind her, including a last-start third at Group l level behind My Ultimate Levi. Just has to bring that form here and she’ll take this out.

Value: Race 4, Number 1: Aunty Frances
Bit of depth to this race so happy to speck 1×3 with this mare. She has only won the one race but hasn’t been far away of late from awkward draws. She should get a lovely run behind the speed and if she is able to land the spot behind the leader, she could be dangerous at odds.
