Impossible to get correct (and make everyone happy) but Sheuy next to Jetta? I think Sheuy showed Taylor Adams isn’t close to his level on GF day. Shuey gets so much opposition attention and he showed on GF day what happens if opponents don’t.
Kelly falling so far because of injury? Bit rough.
The top 50 AFL players of 2018
For all JPT could do last season, everyone is secondary to Cotton, and you’ve got hit the outside shot when he kicks out. Like White as a fit.
Wildcats continue to have all the answers in NBL
A salty Freo fan is completely inoffensive. I can understand their salt.
Redemption, resilience and the rewriting of the West Coast narrative
Or that the expansion clubs started with an extended list. By necessity had to lose players, good recruiting meant some were good.
A Giant fail: GWS are turning wine into water
Great age bracket. Last few years screwed it but WCE showed – few young role players, guns in their prime, veterans on the back end = premiership window. Carlton would be cutting Josh Kennedy & hurn because of their age.
The Hawks might have won another offseason
Another factor left out is that the Hawks use VFL to bring guys in who already know the system. Mirra didn’t set the world a light but to pluck a depth guy who is indoctrinated in the system is a massive advantage.
The Hawks might have won another offseason
Agree about the historical stuff. It’d be another 1000 words to cover the fact that the Hawks empire started with nailing the draft – Hodge, Lewis, Mitchell, Buddy & roughie. It does feel like Hawks are as confident picking 30-60 as they are 15-30.
The Hawks might have won another offseason
Some great takes. The GWS one was probably going to be my article. The team is not in crisis. We’ve become so familiar with the names we forget they are still all young and entering their prime. Cameron. Greene. Coniglio. Zac Williams. Kelly. All 25 and under. Taranto & Hopper are just kids.
The Giants aren't done, Peter Bell is a golden god and other observations from this year's trade period
I’m not one to bang out about tv ads but they were shockers. The 2000 era Jay Z style wailing noise was like nails on a chalk board. Plus I’m not sure the demographic of NBL watchers are looking for teenage girls hot pants.
NBL Week 1: The weekend takes
Two games for Kings this weekend. Even a win/loss split and you’ll likely see Gaze name in next weeks takes. Didn’t call a timeout when the game slipped away. Sat on the led panelling like a moping toddler. Runs an offense he stole from his dad when he has the most dynamic pick and roll guard in the league. Gaze is a lovable bloke but a lot not to like about his coaching.

Wesley’s bully ball wouldn’t work in NBA where everyone could match him physically.

I’m all for this sort of Pro-Eagles propaganda. MAGA – Make AFL Great Again.
The West Coast Eagles saved football, again
Interpretations will play a bigger role than rule changes. Incorrect disposal is the golden ticket- besides the throws, the “knocked out in the tackle” is the biggest load of junk that simply causes rolling mauls.
What will the rule changes mean?
When has the aim isn’t kicking as many goals as you can? Pretty sure it’s scorig more than your opponent?
What will the rule changes mean?
Kick outs – which defenders will have the balls to take on the man on the mark? 10mtr to sprint, can imagine a Zac williams blowing by a stationary tall.
Umpires and hitouts – it actually creates an empty zone to hit to. Guys won’t be able to line up behind the umpire but I imagine many will be streaming into the space behind him once the ball goes up.
Ruck change – understand the “repeat stoppage” issue but at the same time creating a clearance is easier if the ruck can take it and hack it forward.
What will the rule changes mean?
5 years for a broken down Hanners seemed the biggest shock for me. He had a shocking year and the Swans got a get out of jail free card dumping him.
For mine, this scenario only highlights why salary transparency is necessary. Football departments have to be accountable for their performance the same way the coach and players do.
Why the Dan Hannebery deal was good business
Good lols.
While Australian national team might have a tough trot, don’t think that BBL won’t roll up massive crowds and TV coverage again.
As for soccer – read today WSW & Sydney are without their home grounds (Parramatta & SFS both getting knocked down). Two big Sydney clubs with no regular home ground is gonna hurt.
Basketball, will you accept this rose? Cricket and football, it’s time to leave
Can’t see a justification for celebrating Hogan leaving. 23(?) and hasn’t played 100 games yet cracks out 40 goal seasons with ease. These types are difficult to find.
