The ARLC handles the broader game, the NRL handles the main comp.

I wonder if he’s still involved with the RLIF, etc as well.

BREAKING: David Gallop quits as NRL boss

Funnily enough, George Rose seems to be able to bounce up in a flash as well.

Thurston and Marshall not in CVR top 15 players

Boggles my mind that people don’t seem to get where Western Sydney is when they actually have lived there or near there.

While you could say Olympic Park s in the West you wouldn’t be wrong as such but you wouldn’t want to go much farther.

Or when RL journos at the DT blabber on about the Tigers being a Western Sydney team because they have “Wests” in their name (though they do have a lot of fans out West), and then bag out the GWS coach for not knowing where it is. They were the Western Suburbs in 1908, but these days it’s culturally very different. I’m not from Melbourne but looking at a map it’s like claiming North Melbourne or the Western Bulldogs are North and West, they sort of are, but times have changed. You can see it at Rabbitohs and Tigers games especially, the parents are often what you’d expect from club stereotypes, but there’s a massive amount of young fans who are hipsters, etc.

Code war: what is it good for? Absolutely nothing

Here it is.

Got it wrong, he shifts it 6 points but Andrew Johns shifted it 10. Carney is clearly more valuable now, but in last years weak pack he was a one man forward unit.

To be fair, they choked massively. They won every game in that tournament by a massive stretch before the final (lowest pre final was a 24 point win against the Kiwis).

Four rugby league coaches with the axe looming

Also, these scores would have to measure average play the ball speed wouldn’t they? Possibly the most underrated stat in rl.

Imagin getting a squad of all the fastest players of the ball and getting Isaac Luke, Matt Srama, James Roby, et al behind them.

I remember reading an article late last year about Gallen commanding the highest difference in points difference in betting in history (not sure how to put it, not much of a punter).

They would change a market by around 10 points depending on whether he played or not (for example vs Cowboys they might be +4.5 with Gallen, -5.5 without). I expect that would have a lot to do with the players playing around him, and this year with more forward grunt in the Sharks pack that would have changed.

Building a team from scratch I would have Cameron Smith as no. 1 option, makes half decent forwards look like world beaters with his delivery, 2nd would be Thurston, then I’d go either Luke Lewis as I’m a firm believer in the importance of versatility over the course of a season, or Slater for obvious reasons. Slater would not be rated as highly in my opinion as there are a ludicrous amount of talented fullbacks going around, but less talented halfbacks.

I might even throw a cheque at Kieran Foran due to him being a good up and comer.

Lol, it aint pretty but they have some big talent coming through. Watched a bit of him after he schooled Canterbury in game 1, was at the game and he just kept going went for 202 metres and 22 tackles for no misses in 56 minutes!

Grant has been phenomenal, and probably one year too early for Woods, shoe in for next year though.

People don’t know who he is because he plays for Penrith, not because he isn’t good is the point I’m making.

Tim Grant has been playing dominant at prop for the Panthers since the start of the season, and if you actually watched any Panthers matches you’d know why.

Bloody hell.

Hawthorn vs North Melbourne: AFL live scores

Wow, either you’re very simple, very xenephobic or both. You do realise those videos get sent to everyone, including the news networks with non-Arabic names right?

Rugby league's profile increasing on French television

Roby would not be on the bench at most NRL teams, and Tomkins would be best off at the Sharks or Tigers at fullback.

Good idea for a list, definitely threw up some names that would go very well.

Which Super League star does your NRL club need?

1. Michael Jennings is taking up a whopping amount of the salary cap and he hasn’t been performing. 600k is what you would expect to be paying one of the better halfbacks in the competition, not one who at club level is about average. Your looking at a player who is taking up around 7% of their total cap spending
2. Gould/Cleary aren’t signing honest toilers because they think it will be great fun, their cap is completely buggered because the previous administration thought it would be a great idea to give reserve graders massive contracts and first grade spots and massive 5 year contracts to the players they want to hold on to. When they cut these blokes, the difference in their salaries at Penrith and their next club generally comes out of their cap for the length of their contract. They need to free up room to sign all of their Under 20’s stars in the future and this isn’t going to happen when players like Jennings are getting paid 600k to float around the field not pulling their weight.
3. “The solution is to wait it out. In two to three years all contracts drawn-up by past administration will be finished. Sign Jennings for 300K on the cap when his renewel comes up. Do the same with all the other players on overs.”
They can’t wait it out because by that time all of the players they are trying to bring through will be poached as they won’t be able to give them first grade contracts, and they’ll be back to paying overs for whoever is left. In two years there will be 5 players taking up half their cap. Your talking about three years of at best mediocrity followed by the same issues they had before.

The only reason all this stuff is getting so vicious is because Rothfield is the man writing the articles and he hates Phil Gould and is trying to put the boot in. The same guy who supports the Sharks, and believed that Todd Carney deserved a stint in gaol until he signed for them and is suddenly a genius signing and great piece of business.

All is not well at the foot of the mountains

Yeah Gallops fault there’s no other team in Brisbane, nothing at all to do with the people who own your team killing off every other team in SE Queensland.

Broncos poor says NRL coach Griffin

Whole mainstream media is like this, everything has to be catastrophic to try and get some clicks/extra eyeballs.

Found this article the other day:

A Kiwi's advice to Wallaby supporters

Echoes, but the English soccer media is unable to pinpoint the reasons why they lose outside of cliche (Jonathan Wilson and his ilk aside, they get drowned out by the wailing of the tabloids).

Most people I talk to know the Wallaby scrum aint great, I’m not a tragic of the game but I get this.

A Kiwi's advice to Wallaby supporters

Refusing to try video referees because they occasiobally get it wtong is flawed thinking, because they still get it wrong far less than the normal referee.

Players take more than a minute to celebrate goals, plenty of time to have a look for offside, fouls, etc.

Would a video referee work in football?

We picked a fast attacking side, if it was wet they’d roll over the top of us.

State of Origin 2012 Game 1: NSW vs QLD live scores, blog

Way to watch a game in 2012.

Why has Queensland ignored Ben Barba?

Mate, take the Broncos out and you get a clearer picture of outside Sydney crowds.

Just send the low drawing games to other areas, get money for your trouble, areas that don’t get to see it get a few games and bigger crowds in Sydney because you don’t get 20 odd chances to go to the game.Been to Hawthorn games in Launceston and it was awesome (bloody cold though) and I’d definitely travel out west for the odd weekend for a Canterbury game.

An answer to Sydney NRL crowd problems?

Only problem is that Thurston and Slater would tear them up through the middle from the centre of the park when they get to the back end of their shifts.

BROWNIE: Stuart picks an exciting team for Origin Game One

This is great news, now get me some names to print on the back of the jersey!

Popovic signs with western Sydney A-League

I was not sold on Morris on the right but he did very well against Parra. But as the next game is against the Titans he won’t really get tested by a solid defensive left centre until the teams are picked.

Jennings at the centre of Origin storm

Wow, just wow. The icing on the cake was the $160 Billion dollar deficit lol.
